Serrano lifted the belt off of Ben Villaflor how does he fare against Elorde?

Nothing against Serrano here. He had some good longevity and got a lot of work done winning, defending, losing, rewinning and defending his WBA title some more.

But Flash Elorde was way too legit for Serrano. While Serrano had a fairly easy time thanks to some very loving supervision by the WBA, Flash earned everything the hard way. He also fought all over the globe, from his native Philipines, to Japan, to south America, and he was a popular attraction on the west coast of the USA. Meanwhile Serrano mostly fought in San Juan, with an occasional trip to Bayamon. If its not obvious, I have a ton of respect for Elorde.

I actually think Pacquiao's success in the last 15 years has overshadowed Elorde as a true titan of the sport in the Asia-Pacific region. I think because Elorde, and also Gerry Penalosa have been overshadowed by their iconic countryman, and those two haven't seen their careers age as well as Fighting Harada for example in terms of getting credit from this generation of boxing fans.

Keep in mind, it was an open question as to who was greater Elorde or Pacquiao until Manny beat Marquez in their second fight and then went on his epic winning streak going up and down the divisions like a keyboard.
