Tony Yoka isn't A grade because he will loose to to top guys, his build is not enough to compete with top guys. He hasn't got power to hang with big boys and chin as well. I can agree on Tischenko, he clearly will make top 5 at heavyweight. Miller is contender so I didn't include him in my pickem list. Arslanbek's weight and his slow feet and his hand speed will cost him not being top 5 heavy. He might end up somewhere in top 10 at best. Romanov would beat all I listed. Big year for him next year if he stays as active as this year.
Hunter has team to get him the title shot but it will be at least a year and couple months before he gets one.
Oscar Rivas will loose to Jennings, so don't see him winning some belt. Plechko is inactive but could be a contender. Bryan already has belt. Dychko is too flat footed and his chin is problem for him to win world title.
The Jennings/Rivas match is 50/50, Plechko has room for improvement, Bryan beat a crappy Cruiserweight, fine its a belt, but not a great way to get it. Wilder and AJ had chin issues in the amateurs and look how far they've come, don't write Dychko off too easily.
I'm suprised how many are writing off Romanov. Good amateur in his day, got speed and absolute power. What else you could ask for? Definetely a top heavyweight in my book.
Is anyone giving a chance to Lepai against Gorman? I wouldn't rule him out but I go for likely Gorman victory via late rounds stoppage.
Gorman is my favourite prospect, comes from fighting stock and has the Hitman as his trainer. I think Lepai is easily the best he has fought so he has to have a chance. Gorman moves quicker and punches harder than his look would suggest, which means he gets underestimated. If Lepai comes in 100% focussed and wary he has a chance. But I hope Gorman wins as I want him to go on to smash Dubois.
A lot of people writing off Dubois on the back of a laboured win over an unambiguous Kevin Johnson who covered up all night and whose only ambition was not to get blown away and embarrassed. Dubois has just turned 21 and had little to no amateur career, he’ll learn how to step back and entice openings against fighters like Johnson instead of just standing on top of them and battering away for 10 rounds. Let’s give the kid a few fights before we write him off
I’m not writing him off, if you read my post I said he’s limited and lacks head movement. He’s gonna need a lot of it if he wants to get to the top and he needs to add more explosiveness to his current game.
Isn't Arslabek's weight down to 245-250? I would not say he's slow handed. Who's going to make him miss? His defense is built in to his offense. Trade or counter if you dare. The man is heavy handed like George Foreman, and proved a good chin in the amateurs. Can some out box him for a few rounds, sure, but the ones who can take his punches are a short list. If Arslanek's stamina to go the distance at a reasonable pace is good, I see top 5.
He was lot faster as an amateur. He lacks not only speed but also head and body movement. And he takes too much punishent in the ring.
Hand speed doesn't disappear over night. More likely its a transition to the pro game. Arslanbek is a big puncher type with a good chin to take punishment. He doesn't need to rely on head or body movement, his opponents do! Arslanbek is 11-0 in the WSB since 2013. Such a man can box. He is the dark He is the dark horse out there. His firepower is impressive and his ruthless no prisoner mentality inside the ring is made for the pro ring. No opponent has gone the distance with him so far. He is still a big question mark but would love to see him fight opponents like Chisora or Duhaupas
