Would be nice if Hagler ..BHop and Hearns wrote autobiography's. Would like to see someone tackle a Monzon and Matt Franklin bio too

I’d be all over a Saad book and a Hagler autobio.

From what I’ve heard he uses nothing in the way of primary sources, maybe one or two per fight and then out-of-town reports so for me personally I wouldn’t bother.

The Millennium Max Kellerman method of learning and study; don't actually read a ****ing book yourself and review it, go by others opinions and close the mind to ideas. Good thing in the last century folks didn't listen to the first reviews of "Ulysses".

Only heard good things about the Greb book, any of the Adam Pollack books ,Clay Moyle's Sam Langford, anything by George Kimball,Hugh McIllvanney,W C Heinz,A J Leibling , I enjoyed Jerry Izenberg's Once Were Giants,Springs Toledo's trilogy,Harry Ottey's book on Charley Burley, the new Ali book by Jonathan Eig. Friday Night's Heroes is very good ,told by Pep! The Black Lights,The Road To Nowhere by Tris Dixon ,about former fighters, interesting but a bit sad in parts.

The Greb book is excellent. I can’t put it down. Highly recommended.

I enjoyed the Burley one written by Allen Rosenfeld published about 15 years ago. I’ll pencil in the other one and I’ve been meaning to get that Pep one.

Will purchase the Langford one too. I think that will be my next read once I’ve finished with these three I just got.

I did not enjoy Otty’s book on Burley overall. It was okay.

So his research is limited to the newspaper archive website.

Avoid, avoid, avoid in other words.

Another recommendation for Moyle's Langford book and Pollack's Jack Johnson books. Extremely well researched and pretty fair as well. They acknowledge when Johnson/Langford were legitimately beaten, for instance, and print multiple ringside opinions of the same fights. The same goes for Live Fast, Die Young. I've read many a boxing biography where that's not the case and the hero of the story only lost when it was a fix or a robbery, or a fluke.

If you don't already have it, Heller's In This Corner is a must. Also Ghosts of Manila by Mark Kram. I enjoyed Teddy Brenner's Only The Ring Was Square too, a lot of good stories from a guy who was matchmaker at MSG for many years.

Langford book is good. I have Rosenfelds book on Burley but haven't read it. Massive book.

Not quite so. Anyway, 95% of boxing history books out there are not better or are worse than this bio in how much efforts was put into research.
