The WBC's rankings are world rankings. What ratings are you using? Bowe was WBA #1, WBC/IBF #3 prior to facing Holyfield. Ruddock was WBC #1 but lost that rating to Lewis, who was previously #2.

 

You asked the guy for some proof and you got it, Bowe reneged on a contract and ducked Lewis.

Bowe was a waste of talent and a scumbag in and out of the ring. He ran from Lewis and to this day probably blames Lennox for his own shortcomings.

By the way, Bowe trying to get some kind of veterans grudge match with Lewis is a joke. In their current conditions Lewis would knock him out inside 30 seconds.

Exactly. Bowe at his peak would almost certainly have beaten Lewis. People like to blame Bowe because of that stupid publicity stunt of throwing the belt in the trash, but the reality is, they had other options (like the planned fight against Ray Mercer and a rematch with Holyfield) which were more lucrative. Lewis was relatively unknown in the U.S. at the time and a Lewis fight down the line would generate more money, AFTER he gained more noteriety. In fact, a Bowe-Lewis fight was all but signed for 1995, and then Lewis went and got himself knocked out in his tune-up against McCall.

With Lewis' suspect chin, a prime Bowe would have been a major threat to beat him. If guys like McCall and Rahman could do it, Bowe sure could.

 

Lewis had a great chin. He took lots of bombs from big punchers, only lost twice and avenged both.
Bowe never did anything compared with Lewis in the HW division.
