I wasn't impressed with Wilder and I'm glad he addressed it himself in the post interview.. I think Ben Davison gave Fury terrible advice telling him he was going to win the fight with his left hand, when I thought it was his combinations and especially his right which was scoring him points and I thought he should have been more active with his combo's. His body looked almost like Butterbean's .. I think the fight was close but Wilder gets the nod for me with the KD's .. I'm just not seeing these super athletes/modern day boxer's skills that are so superior to the old timers like we have heard from several posters for way too long
How does this incredible fight stack up against other great championship fights in history? Wilder with his non stop attempts to land those nuclear punches. Fury with his slickness, speed and IQ. And getting up from that hellacious knockdown after seemingly looking concussed. Absolutely unbelievable. I think they’re both easy locks for top 20 all time HW champions. Truly elite caliber from both men in the annals of boxiana imo. Wow!
Decision was too bull**** for it to be historic. Still a great fight. Much more entertaining than it's predecessor, GGG vs Canelo
I wasn't impressed with Wilder and I am glad he addressed my thoughts himself in the post fight interview. I thought Ben Davison gave Fury terrible advice when he told him he was going to win the fight with just his left when I thought it was his combinations, especially with his right that was scoring him points.. He needed to be more active in getting off his combos. I'm just not seeing these so called super athletes/modern day boxing skills that are so much better than the old timers that we have been hearing from several poster's here for way too long … To answer the OP's question? I have been for 10 years now, unfortunately
Neither are top 20 of all time (you can make a case for Fury with Chisora x2, Wlad And Wilder) but it was a great fight, very dramatic. The 12th will live long in the memory. I wish it was a 15-rounder. That was even worse than Holmes-Shavers II. I have no idea how Fury got up.
no not yet. top 20 ?? Wilder was controlled for most of the fight and the knockdowns salvaged that draw and his title. But look at him after the fight and he looked beaten up. So he knows he was in a fight. They still need a rematch and either guy to beat Joshua to be in the top 20. Joshua vs. Fury right now would be very interesting.
Fury has the skills and resolve we demand of great heavyweight champions, that much is clear. He should’ve added another good win to his resume tonight but oh, well it wasn’t to be. Let’s hope we treat it like Whitaker-Chavez and Lewis-Holyfield I down the road: credit the obvious winner with the victory he was denied.
Wilder got exposed for me but he also had his power certified. The 12th round is what elevates the fight. It was mostly a clinic from Fury and i think Wilder was far too passive overall but the flipside is that his stamina is somewhat suspect even if he carries his power late and i'm not yet sure he takes the best punch himself. Apart from his height, reach and right hand Wilder doesn't have much but damn that right hand is a big equalizer. Fury is the story, he showed enormous heart and excellent skills. Him getting up from that Wilder right hand and hook is a historical moment i reckon. The man was O-U-T when he hit the canvas. To not only get back up but to recover quickly and then boss Wilder somewhat was extraordinary. Fury won the fight.
Fury would terrorise Joshua. I can’t even see that it would be close. But yes, Fury needs to beat the no.2 HW in the world and rematch Wilder as well.
Hell no, I haven't seen the fight yet only the controversy. It's a real life soap opera with legitamitely insane people. Boxing is just an improv routine, and just like whose line is it anyway, the points don't matter. I just love the technique and I'm much happier for it.
It's great that we are getting the big fights. We should get plenty more action between these two and Joshua in the future. Lets hope we can get fair results.
Well Joshua needs to fight one of these two guys and I think right now he should fight Fury.. Joshua isn't involved in the party, and he should be.
