Him getting up in round 12 might be one of the most amazing boxing moments ever. HE HAD NO BUSINESS getting up from that, that shot would have knocked any heavyweight in history out and it knocked Fury out but... somehow with help from supernatural or his warrior spirit he managed to get up He schooled Wilder for 12 rounds, got clipped with a big shot and hit behind the ear. Everyone knows Fury won but even as the decision was announce he was graceful and acted like a real man, the world witnessed it, Fury is the champion. Fury is the man. I will remember him getting up off the canvas for the rest of my life and it will serve as a reminder of what sheer will, determination and heart can do.
Damn straight! To do what he did and do it after being near death with substance abuse and depression... ****ing brilliant. Kudos Tyson.
Oh yea, he looked very good. I thought the draw was fair but Tyson looked awesome and assuming he doesn't fall off the wagon his stock went way up.
The amazing thing about him getting up was, he was not wobbly and managed to win the very next exchange. I can now admit I am a fan.
I thought Fury won it clearly, but who cares, cos something more special than a win happened in there tonight. Fury - seemingly unconscious on the canvas - opened his eyes as if someone had quietly spoken to him. Not shouted, not instructed, no alarm; just a soft voice telling him he can get back up. You see, Fury's life has never ever been about being unbeatable. He doesn't represent invincibility. He represents belief, even when you're at your lowest. Belief in God, in love, in family; whatever you like. Belief that you can carry on and be okay. I thought anything less than a win for Fury would leave me disappointed, but something more valuable happened instead, and is my favourite moment in boxing. Seeing this man stand up after being knocked down is more meaningful than seeing him lift the belt. It turns out he was right: it is just a belt. There are bigger things in the world Peace, everyone.
