Was that the cynical "cash-out" that half of this forum have been going on about ?
To be, it looked like a man making a serious performance in a serious fight, a fight he genuine thought he could win, and arguably did win.

It was also a lot more PPV-worthy than what Eddie Hearn apparently proposed as Fury's first PPV outing, which would have given you all Fury v Bellew on SKY PPV.

Frankly, I think Fury deserved to win that fight last night.
    I can't see how that's a cash out.

Fury can still get fitter and leaner if he wants. He was fantastic last night and proved many people wrong, myself included. I thought he would outbox Wilder but be sparked out later on wasn't a million miles away but Fury showed way more than I expected.

Just really enjoyed the fight and they both shut a few people up last night, especially the Matchroom fanboys who were doing their best to put people off the fight.

It appeared to be a cash out. Seferi and Pienneta weren’t credible opponents. They didn’t fill you with hope.

As for the PPV it was dreadful. If Hearn served up that he would be lynched. Yeah the main event was decent but the rest was one sided shite.

It never appeared to be a cash out to me.
Fury thought he could beat Wilder, and trained hard.
Wilder's weaknesses and flaws have been known for years, he's hardly beat anyone good, so it wasn't a surprise that Fury would fancy his chances.

Some people wanted Fury v Bellew instead, because "Eddie says ...." etc.

Undercards shouldn't matter. They are just preliminaries.
If the main event isn't PPV on its own, then the event isn't PPV.

Fury-Wilder is with zero undercard is more PPV-worthy than any possible heavyweight contest with Tony Bellew in it.

Yep, eating crow here, as I really thought he was.
He should have won the WBC strap last night and celebrate.

    Good post.

Just put the fight on again for the father-in-law. Was good to watch it back without the nerves and emotion. You could make an argument for Wilder edging round 1, but he loses 2-8 convincingly imo. Round 9 is a 10-8 but Fury goes right back at him and finishes strongly. He boxed Wilder’s head off for rounds 10 & 11. Round 12 was just amazing. Fury was lucky to get the benefit of the doubt from the ref, no doubt about it but when Wilder tries to finish him he takes cops a big right from Wilder and if he’d have been on ball he could have seriously have stopped Wilder.

The herky-jerky movement, the footwork especially when he lands is excellent. He steps straight off at an angle so you can’t counter him clean. The constant feints and hurtful shots...Wilder missed loads.

I really hope Joshua & Hearn stop faffing about over split percentages and fight Fury & Wilder over the next year or so. It’s a potentially brilliant trilogy if they fight each other (hopefully) twice. Fury is the best of the 3 in my opinion but they could all foreseeably beat each other as Wilder and Joshua carry legitimate power. All 3 comfortably currently beat the rest of the division.

I agree with most of that but I'm not sure they all "comfortably" beat the rest.

Ortiz went pretty close with wilder and I think povetkin would also.

In fact I think I think there's quite a few of the top 10 that can out box wilder it's just whether or not they get knocked out in the process ...

AJ has been rocked a few times, I don't think it's an impossibility one of the other top 5 or so can't catch him with a good shot...

Fury's a bit different in that he outboxes them all but his Achilles heel is he lacks the power to finish his fights early which means against the top 5 or so guys it's almost always going 12 which of course gives these guys a chance to knock him out.

Yeah, I was probably getting giddy with the ‘comfortably’ bit but I think they’re the top 3 though.

Yeh I would say so but theres also a few who could potentially upset them on a given night. what's good about the division is there's lots of guys with strong attributes but they all have vulnerabilitys.

I admit it after the Fury's Pianetta performance I thought the fight with Wilder would be a "cash out fight" by Fury and I was proven wrong. Although I believe Wilder is overrated and I thought Fury just looked so bad in his come back fights that he wouldn't stand a chance against even a limited fighter in Wilder.

Wilder showed just how bad he was last night and why the likes of Washington, Spzilka and Ortiz were out boxing Wilder before he stopped them. Difference between Fury and these 3 guys was that Fury displayed more heart and durability getting up off the canvas.

I'd back all of AJ, Usyk, Povetkin, Whyte, Parker, Pulev and Hunter against Wilder in a fight (although you can never write Wilder off with that one punch power of his).

I knew in the build up fury was coming to win. Defo no cash out. Still think it was crazy taking on wilder so soon. He could have beat him with ease with another couple of fights beforehand. But he's in a better position for it. More because its the type of fight that prepares you for more big fights.

He needs to take the foot off the gas for the next two fights imo. Concentrating on peaking for the next big one. Let wilder fight Joshua in the meantime.

Well played to the man. Fantastic performance overall.

Wherever Fury goes, there will be a cynical crew following, hating, patronizing and downplaying everything he does. People who have abused him his whole career, and haven't the balls to hold their hand up and say "I was wrong", no matter how great his performances are. It's pathetic.

Fury went to America to take on a prime Deontay Wilder, having only been back in training just over a year, after losing almost ten stone. He won the fight in everyones eyes bar a few idiots. It's another remarkable achievement! We know what he done in Germany.

Imagine Fury's level in six months to a year if he stays in shape. The haters excuses and bias will get more and more laughable.

I already apologised, I thought after everything he done to himself outside the ring Fury wouldn't have much left.

But.. If you asked me this question a couple of days ago I would have apologised then, 3 million basic purse isn't "cashing out".

It was mainly Joshua/Hearn fans putting the fight down with the Fury is underdone/they'll make no money nonsense. The fight was always gonna be a classic and Fury was just getting rid of the ring rust against Seferi and Pianeta anyone with half a brain could see that.
