Yeah different styles....but some say that they would be too small to compete with or too small to have punching power that would hurt modern day heavies. For example, I've seen it posted on here that Louis and Liston were hard punchers for their time, but couldnt hurt todays heavies.

Wilder is such an oddity. He throws the right hand with a level of ferocity that simply has not been previously seen in boxing. He must eventually tear a muscle of some sort, whether it's his rotator cuff or an oblique, because the human body simply cannot endure that amount of force and momentum for any extended period. This is especially the case when you consider how little technique he has when he throws. I predict he'll be crocked by 35 with some self-inflicted injury from which he cannot recover.

Last I heard, th word in the classic section is that today's heavyweights get schooled by Young Stribling and pulverized by Tony Galento.

I've seen it posted around here and there. Wasn't any particular one person who stated it. For example in one thread, I remember reading that Louis couldn't possibly hurt the K2 brothers.

Wilder is an exception to the rule for obvious reasons...

It's just the opposite lately. Usyk destroys Dempsey, Fury toys with Louis until he literally knocks his head off his body, Ward schools Greb etc.

He already tore his biceps and broke his right hand. Most fighters recover these days.

    1) Wilder is essentially crap
    2) Fury was bloated, had fat rolls bulging over his belt and came off a 2 year layoff
    3) this entire HW division is in a woeful state

    ergo

No, the conclusion that size does not matter does not follow from the results of this fight. Size does matter. I think the greats could be competitive in any era but I'll still take a Wlad or Lennox over a Louis or Marciano, all things being equal.

Can we take a moment to appreciate how beautifully odd Tyson Fury’s body is? Kinda reminds me of Dr Eggman from Sonic the Hedgehog. Plus the way he moves in the ring...he’s just altogether a human anomaly.
