Last nights Fury ,Which Lineal Champ s does he beat ?

Based on what I saw from him against Klit and last night he would be a tough fight for any man. Don’t feel like running through predictions at the minute but size and style he is going to be hard to beat for boxers sluggers and brawlers.

 

He would be trouble for anyone. The way to beat him is find ways to hit the body and then come upstairs. Someone like Mike Tyson would just go to the body and come upstairs and Lennox would land the right. But he is trouble for anyone. Amazing fighter and reflexes and heart.

 

Damn near all of them except for Ali and Lewis.

 

He would make Marciano look like he chose the wrong sport.

 

How about Jack Johnson?

 

I knew the Marciano bashing would creep in lol

 

Easy peasy. Fury as strong and skilled in the clinch as Johnson, far better jab, much more offensive variety. Maybe over 25 it would be a different story but over 12 or 15? Hard to see Johnson getting much done, though it would certainly be competitive IMO

 

Fury is an odd mixture of a fighter. Good balance, feet and mobility for his size, a good jab, good natural instincts, fighting intelligence and a degree of somewhat ugly homespun slickness mixed in with appalling technical slop, mediocre offensive sharpness and inconsistent output and timing. Not a puncher either despite his size.

He can nicely mix up what offensive tools he does have in terms of approach but his range is more limited imo and from an offensive standpoint I find him cumbersome and untidy to watch and it prevents him from dominating fights as he might. He seems a lot more vulnerable as and easier to hit/counter too when he tries to open up on the front foot rather than when he's boxing on the move, controlling the distance, presenting angles etc. Very open to being countered with overhands and good straight punches with his chin in the air.

More of an intelligent spoiler/mover at his best who tries to mix up his approach but doesn't always quite have all the differing aspects and tools under full control as far as I can see. Sometimes his reflexes and fundamentals are sound and then sometimes shoddy in the next moment.

An effective and formidable package overall though, no doubt. Loads of heart, confidence in what ability he has and great powers of recovery as the Wilder fight showed.

I get a feeling that the quicker, offensively more skilled and layered guys in the solid mid-size range might be harder opponents for him than the super heavies with more limited skill sets who he can outwit and outmanoevre. He didn't have an easy time with the solid but nothing special Cunningham iirc and ended up having to just walk him down and overpower him while taking a lot of punches and being floored heavily in the process. In fairness he imposed his size well in that fight when it became apparent that Cunningham could both box with him and hurt him despite being smaller, but I still don't see him consistently posing the same threat offensively to smaller guys that the likes of Lewis and others did.

 

I really rate him as a ring general though, he has top end natural ring savvy and knows how to make someone fight his fight. Seems to have a grasp of movement and general fundamental positioning more typical of the lighter skilled type.

 

The dream matchup would be Fury vs Valuev. A prime Niko mind hyou before he ever got to the states when he still had speed and power on his shots. Oh baby, makes the balls tingle. Either that or Langford.

Indeed. Watch Marciano-Walcott and then try to imagine Marciano in with a man who's just as skilled as Jersey Joe but much, much bigger and far more elusive.

I would favor over Fury.
He has a great chance over just about everyone else.

Herky Jerky movement making a comeback in 2018.
Corbett would be proud.

 

Marciano and Johnson wouldn’t stand a chance. The former especially, is hilariously outmatched against Fury. Zero chance.

Rocky actually kept moving his legs towards his target non stop.
Wilder doesn't.
Rocky applied constant pressure, fighting for the inside, using constant head movement to setup 4 punch blistering bomb combos.
And has far better stamina than Wilder did.
Wilder blows his wad on bomb runs.
Rocky doesn't.

Easier to look elusive when the opponent isn't a genius crowding inside fighter.
Look at Ali when he fought Frazier.
And Walcott vs Marciano.
