Why Hughie Fury is such a poor boxer compared to his cousin Tyson?

Despite being more dedicated to sport. Tyson beat Wlad and Wilder, while Hughie lost in one-sided fight to Kubrat Pulev

Well you can't teach someone how to be a fighter. Someone once told me that Manny Steward once told Wlad he was a magnificent athlete for Wlad to ask him how does he turn that athletic ability in to being a great fighter.

Might that be a BS rumour but the point remains - there are a lot intangibles required to be a top fighter and lots of people no matter what genes that might be blessed with just don't have those qualities.

Part of it is mental. Fury despite his mental health issues outside of the ring, inside the ring the man is mentally unshakable. While Hughie when under pressure mentally folds, Tyson puts his hands behind his back and does a shimmy and keeps going.

From a technical stand point, I think Tyson has better defence, his head and upper body movement is superior, he's almost as elusive in close and he is at range, while Hughie needs to control distance more to be effective. Tyson also has greater punch variety and is more adaptable in the ring, he can adjust on the fly while Hughie can't do this as we saw in the Pulev fight.

    hes not tyson.

hes freeriding him. Like Matthew and Ricky, or Marvis and Joe. Hughie would be in a ballet tutu if his cuz wasnt boxing.

like fury is freeriding off mikes name.

    1) Hughie is not a poor boxer by any comparison.
    2) Tyson has an elite level of talent (levels above any current live HW). You know, the sort of stuff that you just cannot teach. When Tyson combines his talent with passion and dedication for the sport I think it's easy to see why he is regarded as #1.

I think Tyson has just enough pop on his punches that his punch and move routine works. While neither Klit or Wilder were close to being knocked over against Tyson they were both visually marked up.

That was the issue with Fury vs Parker - Parker could just walk straight through Hughie's offense. It is very hard to notch up rounds fighting off the back foot if you aren't punishing the more offensive fighter for their mistakes.

I wasn't suggesting this was based on him beating anyone, just my opinion based on what i have seen.

Because they are two different human beings.

Never understand why their abilities are sometimes assessed as one. It makes no sense. They're not even brothers.

Very unfair. We all got family members that are naturally better at certain sports etc.

Hughie's what's called, the runt of the litter. Tyson is all about height and size. Hughie's big, but not as big as his cousin. His fighting style with his outside jabbing, don't suit his frame. He's not heavy handed enough, to get the respect of his opponent. Tyson has moderate enough power to bust up his opponents. Hughie can't because genetically he's a weakling. There's quite a big difference between 6ft 6 and 6ft 9.

Natural talent is the difference. You can work as hard as you want and train as hard as you want, but those at the top have more than that. Hughie dooesnt look like a natural boxer to me, doesnt have the killer instinct in the ring and lacks strength and power at the elite level to be a success in the sport.

They are just two cousins, and most brothers are not the same in terms of natural talent at the same sport.

This sort of rhetoric is just pathetic. Hughie is a good fighter with enormous potential.
