Expectations for Wilder were

I can not agree with you. Neither can Compubox.. here are their numbers:

Total punches: Thrown/Landed/Percentage

Round 3:
Wilder: 31/4 12.9%
Fury: 30/11 36.7%

Round 4:
Wilder: 36/5 13.9%
Fury: 31/7 22.6%

Round 5:
Wilder: 35/6 17.1%
Fury: 22/7 31.8%

CompuBox doesn't tell the whole story of course, but it gives you a base line. The thing is even if you are doubling the score for meaningfull punches you still have to give all three rounds to Fury, he simply landed the better shots. Most of Wilder's work either missed completely or just grazed Fury, it was the story of the fight.

Also how on earth can you give Wilder round 3? He landed 4 punches in total, and each time he landed Fury landed his own combination.

Let me break it down for you, in boxing we have rounds, 12x3 minute little fights. You judge every round separately. Fury won 10 rounds, wilder won 2 but gets extra point for knockdown. Fury 8 wilder 4

 

I'm merely holding Deontay Wilder fans / fanatics to their own standards. Some of them have claimed he is the biggest puncher ever.

Fury on the other hand, has been dropped far too many times, including by feather fisted heavyweights (and cruiser weights) to not be called what I called him.

So if Wilder is only managing two knockdowns against a guy in Fury who has ALREADY been dropped more than once by feather fists, then that's not really proving Wilder's power is anything special. Which is basically my point!

 

Also, Wilder's first knockdown punch was from his standard arsenal (illegal)

Wilders second knockdown punch was a combination of a right cross and a left hook. Much like the Klitschko knockdown on Joshua minus the left hook that was missing.

Wilder's power is overrated. But Fury's chin is a bit underrated as well just like Wladimir Klitschko's chin was. Neither of them has been stopped on the canvas.

 

You're correct! The first knockdown was clearly a rabbit punch. And the second knockdown looked more a result of Fury being off balance, rather than looking at all hurt by that punch, evident by the fact that he got back up to his feet and his legs weren't even wobbly / shaky (a major sign of a boxer being hurt).

 

Yeah but Mayweather has a lot of haters. If Mayweather wins every round but get KD'd twice, he still wins the fight.
