Only one judge scored it for Wilder, not "a couple". FYI the judge who scored it a draw is a Brit. Canadian judge had it Fury winning.
I had Wilder up comfortably even without the knockdowns. I was impressed by how he outboxed Fury, was the Ring General, and scored the cleaner, more effective punches. His stamina was great. It is a shame he was robbed of his victory, but I have no doubt he will stop Fury in the rematch. AJ, of course, will continue to duck him.
Of course he was robbed, its the WBC. Is everyone forgetting the other 98-92 card against Gvozdyk for Stevenson for the WBC light heavyweight title? Both fights were being fixed, lucky Gvozdyk got the KO. This weekend was a robbery/F$%k the foreigners fest kind of weekend for the WBC. Same as every other weekend. They'll stab their own grandmothers in the back to keep their titles North America based.
No. Viewers fall into a trap of scoring a fight based on who looks better. Wilder can look like an out of control toughman contestant and Fury can do a suave Ali impersonation, but clean effective punching is still the main scoring criterion. Apart from the knockdowns, there was little clean effective punching taking place during the fight. The result was unremarkable punchstats for each fighter. Several rounds were close; Fury won the majority of them in the rounds he wasn’t dropped in but did not dominate. The verdict is a draw.
Judges need to be held to account. Why don’t they ever do interviews? Judge Rochin, why did you give the 1st 4 rounds to Wilder? What are your thoughts in respect of the 4 criteria: Clean punching Effective aggression Ring generalship Defence If he thinks Wilder did well in these, then he gets exposed as either incompetent or corrupt.
Uh oh.. here it is, guys. The Big John Fury interview we've all been waiting for This content is protected
Stephen Smith is an idiot who thinks he can win an argument or be right by overtalking and being a blow hard loud mouth. He is an idiot discussing any sport, using him as example A in a boxing discussion hardly furthers your cause.
I agree he's an idiot. He brings race and nationality into every discussion he possibly can and yet even he with obvious and admitted biases couldn't find a way to justify a Wilder win. That speaks volumes.
