Are Fury`s defensive skills underrated compared to other former heavyweight champs? This content is protected
No man born from his mother from HW down to light-welterweight possess that kind of slickness, agility, or reflexes like the Gypsy King's and I mean in all of boxing history.
As I mentioned in another thread, imagine if Tyson dedicated himself 100% to boxing from the very beginning. Would it be an exaggeration to say he could’ve been the best ever? I honesty don’t think it would be
For a big sexy heap of a man he is pretty slick. Plus he has the added hindrance of lacking the usual melanin levels defensively adept fighters seem to have.
He is the best HW defensive fighter I have seen in a bit. But lets not go overboard here, he's no Lomachenko
He has to prove he won`t be caught by Wilder`s right in the rematch though, Wilder started straightening his right and ducking down wasn`t making Fury completely safe.
Wilder can’t box. So the fight flattered Fury a little. Fury wasn’t as good as he was against Wlad. Fury is quick, and he judges range well. He also possesses good footwork and instinct. He does have lapses in concentration and can be caught when clowning. Cunningham should never have caught him the way he did walking in and Wilder should not have got him in the end. He is a good defensive fighter, with very good legs and stamina. If he knew how to turn his defense into offense better he would be even more formidable. He’s no Chris Byrd and he doesn’t judge range like Wlad did - but he has good combination of them, he can be slick like Byrd was especially on the ropes, and he judges range pretty well with his height and good legs making it difficult to reach him especially if you want to keep your position.
