Yeah, I mostly agree. I think KD's generally deserve more credit in scoring than they are given. And I believe rounds should be scored even MUCH more often.

And, even if a boxer otherwise wins the round, it doesn't mean that should be a one point round, contra to one of the other posts on this thread. For a KD to only be a one point round in favor of the guy who kd'd the other guy, the guy who got kd'd should have absolutely dominated the round. The last time I can remember scoring a KD round only by one was the Wlad AJ fight, when Wlad badly hurt AJ after he got KD'd.

Personally, I think 20 point rounds might be a good idea. Since people feel such a compulsion to always award a round to one fight or another, a close round could be 20/19. 20/20 should still be awarded at about the same rate as 10/10. A very clear round for a fighter is 20/18. A KD round or utter domination is 17/20.

Does this comment have something to do with the Wilder vs. Fury fight? Are you a Wilder fan? Anyway... most of the time what you are saying about 10-8 rounds is true but it doesn't have to be.

The fighter who gets dropped loses a point each time he goes down. Sounds simple enough, read on.

I think a round should be scored 10-9 or 10-10 if no one goes down or loses a point in any type of way. Give a man credit for not going down or getting a standing 8.

A round with a knockdown or knockdowns should be scored this way...

First ignore the actual knockdown. 10 points for the winner, 9 points for the loser, then subtract 1 point for each knockdown (from the fallen fighter). Let's assume there is 1 knockdown. This round could be scored 10-8 or 10-10. In no way can you score this round 10-9 or 9-9 in this scenario. I will explain...
Let's assume the fallen fighter did more in the round other than the knockdown. He would have gotten 10-9 for the round but he was dropped. When you take a point away it becomes 9-9... all even rounds are to be scored 10-10.

    Or...
Let's ignore the actual knockdown. The round is even, 10-10. There is also 1 knockdown though. Subract 1 point for the knockdown. This round has to scored 10-9.

2 knockdowns in seperate rounds can not win you the fight when don't win more than 5 rounds, can't be done. Let's say 10-8 for each round with 1 knockdown, let's give the fighter who scored the knockdowns 3 more 10-9 rounds (we can call this guy Wilder )... the score is 113-113. There is no way to justify giving Wilder 5 rounds but somehow a judge gave him 7 rounds for a score of 115-111.

10 point "must system". The winner gets 10. A 9-9 round becomes 10-10. All even rounds are to be scored 10-10.

Actually it should be scored 10-10. I know it sounds crazy but it is true. Look at the round like this...

There is 1 knockdown and no other points lost. Now, ignore the knockdown... who would have won the round without the KD? Give the winner 10 and the loser 9. Now, subtract 1 point from the fighter who was dropped... in this case it is the fallen fighter who won the round (if you ignore the KD). We have the score at 9-9, right? Well, change it to 10-10 because all even rounds are to be scored 10-10.

Thw only way to get a 10-9 round in rhis situation is if you thought the round was even (if not for the KD). So you have a 10-10 round, then subtract for the knockdown... you get 10-9 for the fighter who scored the KD.

I think knockdowns should count for -2. Fighter outboxes and drops his opponent 1 time, he wins that round 10-7.

Holyfield vs. Moorer I, round 2. Holyfield dropped Moorer in that round but did little else, one judge scored it 10-10. He felt Moorer would have won the round 10-9 if not for the knockdown. Take a point from Moorer for the KD and you get 9-9... even rounds are scored 10-10. You don't see judges do this very often but it is totally legit.

No. 10 point must means for each frame before penalties someone gets 10 points.

Totally agree, let us not forget how in two fights Canelo and Golovkin had no knockdowns at all, maybe Fury did deserve points for getting up off the floor but I’m not sure that’s in the rules lol.
One other point Wilders whole game is based on getting those knockdowns/knockouts so give him credit when he pulls it off.
For some reason Fury makes some folk throw all reason out of the window.

How is it possible to lose a round after a knockdown, outside of being knock down oneself or close to being stopped I can’t see how anything else negates a knockdown in terms of scoring

Even rounds are scored 10-10 regardless of knockdowns or any other point deduction. Some judges are stupid and don't do it right... but all even rounds are supposed to be scored 10-10.

Wow I cant remember the fight. But if Moorer got a 10-10 after being knocked down then he should have beaten Holyfield half senseless. It would have to be Froch Bute type of a massacre to justify that IMO.

That's not what he means. He is saying this... look at the round and forget about the knockdown for a second. Who would have won? One guy gets 10, the other 9... subtract 1 point for the knockdown. If you took the point from the guy you gave 9, he gets 8 now... a 10-8 round. BUT!!! if the other guy went down... well, that's when people lose their sh!t. You get 9-9... but like I have been saying (no one seems to be listening) that round should be scored 10-10. So... you are correct... if you are the only guy who goes down (or loses a point in anyway) in a round you can't win it, but you can break even.

I'm not sure that official judges are allowed to score a round 10/10. There might be a rule against it. I use them but I'm not beholden to any sanctioning organization. I think if you check the rules on the wba, iBF, or wbc websites, they will be explicit about that.

He didn't. I'm not saying I agree with that, I am all about the 10-8, but it can happen. That 10-10 score cost Holy his belts.
