Oliver McCall, 53, came back to the ring at HEB Tennis Centre, Corpus Christi, where he defeated 26 y.o. Larry Knight (3-17-1) by decision in a 6-rounder on November 30th

Therefore, McCall is one of the oldest active boxers in the world. Hopefully, he won't up his level of opposition.

McCall has started his pro career 33 years ago.

fighting in the 40s is pushing it, but fighting at 53? What is the point. That is too old to be fighting. 7 years from 60. 43 is different if they are winning and not taking punishment. 53 cannot end well. Retire.

Crazy. And his son Elijah's pro boxing career lasted only 15% as long (5 years), with 21% as many bouts (16, against Oliver's 74) and he boxed just over 10% as many rounds (45 compared with Oliver's now 434 and counting...)

McCall was a game high level journeyman into his late 40s. I wonder if that's still the case? At his age 2-4 years is a lot.

I don't remember, did he seem to age overnight between Rekowski I & II or was the rematch just home cooking?

I don't remember either. Looking at the cards though I'm going to guess it was a combination of homecooking and Rekowski trying harder after likely underestimating McCall in the first bout. Only judge had McCall losing only by a point while the other two have him nicking only a round? Definitely seem like cooked cards lol.

Call me crazy. But I'd rather see McCall given a shot at glory that that perpetual pain in the ass Fres. Assuming it's Charr of course. Big Baby beating up another old man would leave an even worse taste.

He may have the Greatest Chin in boxing history. All those fights into his 50's now, fighting SHWs, never off his feet.
Even with the drug, legal & mental problems.
One person somewhere said he was floored in his 300 + rounds with Tyson, but I never saw evidence of it.
But this ability can be a mixed blessing if it means he absorbs more punishment than any normal person.
However Chuvalo is also very alert & articulate, so they may just be among the very few with an unfathomable punch resistance.

...I mean, has Fres even beaten one heavyweight of note since he lost to McCall?

The best was Derric Rossy, and...meh...

Elijah's chin is also far from impressive. Rekovski cracked his chin easily, while his then 49 y.o. daddy took all Rekovski punches and didn't even blink. Also, Dieuly Aristilde, with 2 KO's in 18 fights, brutally knocked out Elijah in 4th round.

Interestingly, Oliver McCall's 33 years-long pro career lasts longer than Evander Holyfield's (27 years), George Foreman's (28 years) and Larry Holmes' (29 years).

Still not close to Saul Mamby who has fought from 1969 till 2008, which is 39 years as a pro boxer.
