100k is a tiny percentage of the UK population and it is really disgraceful that so few UK citizens watch such a huge fight. Feck all PPVs I say
100k UK PPV buys is the equivalent of 500k buys in America (percentage wise). So considering the fact it was on at 4am I’d say that’s pretty good for the UK figures.
Where have you got $15m from?? He did 300k PPV at $75 which is then split 50/50 with the PPV provider that’s $11.2m. AJ does 1.5m at $25 which his split 50/50 with sky and makes $18.75m on top of this AJ brings Dazn to the table who would only need 100,000 subscribers to guarantee the same $11.2m in US revenue. Wilder vs Fury making $11.2m from US even with a $5m gate and $5m from UK PPV might make both guys $10m at a push.
I've already said Showtime said both fighters would make 8 figures if the fight done 250k ppv's. It done significantly more than 250k, pushing those 8 figures closer to 15 million than 10 million. Don't forget Wilder is earning a bit more than Fury for this fight. The OP also suggested 400k ppv so it could surpass 15 million dollars for Wilder. No point us adding up this and that. My figure is going by what Showtime said. I've nothing to gain here chief, I don't really care either way.
Me neither just didn’t agree with the assertion wilder makes more for the Fury rematch than against Joshua. Based on those rough numbers I’m pretty sure he doesn’t. But makes good money either way.
Perhaps he doesn't. We're all going on hearsay at the moment. What I do know is that the Wilder/Fury rematch makes Wilder big money and even if it's a few mil less than an AJ fight, it means he doesn't have to go to the UK, nor deal with Hearn who his team clearly don't like. They need AJ a lot less than before.
Not entirely true though is it. Fury is the favourite against him now so his options are 1) lose to Fury for less money and be finished 2) try and knock Joshua out for more money and if achieved you get the fury rematch which is then even bigger.
I don't think team Wilder want to go to the UK. Especially now they've got a big US PPV fight looming. That's why I see the Fury rematch as a more attractive one for team Wilder. If he sparks Tyson out cold for real this time, he becomes a genuine US PPV fighter. If he sparks Joshua in the UK, not many Americans will be watching. Surely their priority is making Deontay a PPV star in the US?
Would they be guaranteed a rematch clause against Tyson if he loses, where as that may be harder with AJ?
Fairly solid PPV numbers IMO (better than I was expecting). You'd think the rematch would do at least 75K-100K more in the US aswell.
