I honestly thought this thread would be a war between Holmes and Marciano with only a few stray votes for Lewis...

    How wrong I was...

I am comfortable with either Holmes or Lewis at #3.

Jeffries' placement in the Top Ten is the one that seems contentious. He had a flawless run really except for an ill advised comeback.

Against an old Fitzsimmons and a shot Corbett

Tom Sharkey is a good name, though

Nobody. There is no clear #3. I have Marciano but I think about 9 other fighters are as good as an answer as the one I give.

For me it's Lewis. Then probably a tossup between Wlad and Holmes for #4.

This stuff is all pretty subjective anyway. I think anybody at the very top could probably beat any other top guy in the right circumstances and on the right day.

Lennox Lewis H2H, achievement wise Rocky Marciano or Jack Johnson, slight edge for Johnson.

I agree in regards to the lack of a consensus or at least on overwhelming one. I think 9 guys is about right that could be validly places 3-12 in a variety of orders without being a poor choice.

I agree his and Marciano detractors have become an overwhelming bore recently. I have Holmes/Lewis pretty level and forced to chose lean towards Holmes. But seeing him rated 16 in one recent thread man things are spiraling out of control sometimes lol
