Strong numbers. The undercard was terrible but the main event was wonderful and was prob worth the money on its own. Well UK money, i dont think any fight is worth $75. Glad im British.

The Gypsy King's gift of the gab, personality and charisma, and skills as a salesman is what's responsible for selling 99% of whatever the final figure turns out to be. He went way above and beyond the call of duty selling the **** out of this fight and trying to raise Donkey's profile in the US (and over in the UK as well) and that ungrateful clown Donkey is still making excuses after everything he's done for him. Tyson dragged him from total obscurity into the spotlight and allowed him to ride on the coattails of his fame and celebrity. He even went on the John Rogan podcast to try and sell the fight and introduce Donkey to Rogan's considerable audience and both Donkey and Rogan's countrymen.

If Wilder does 300k vs. Fury, then what would he do vs. Ortiz II as that seems to be their alternative avenue should a rematch vs. Fury not come together.

This is a video from 1st. of October, Showtime saying they would be "thrilled" with 400k. So 300k isn't what they were looking for but at least they didn't lose their shirt.

I was surprised how they got it right in the end as the media coverage was excellent with ex HW champions all turning up to help promote this.
Pleased for both guys as they put on a great show.

I was of the opinion this fight couldn't do any better than GGG vs Jacobs, at least that fight was competitive this fight was a mismatch. Fury was not only inactive but actually looked very poor vs Pianeta.

When it was first signed I was of the opinion like many others that Fury either pulls out or dives. It just seemed far fetched he could do well despite what his mouth was saying. I also predicted him to beat Wlad BTW.

It didn't surprise me the event didn't sell well initially. I was surprised to learn with days to go there were not many tickets left. Obviously from the actual footage it was packed and what looked like to the rafters!!!!

I don't think you can compare this set of fights to historical ppv numbers. Its a different era after all. 15-20+ years ago lol that is meaningless.

Social media can really ignite a big fight these days. Before the fight there wasn't much buzz after the fight it was actually quite insane.

1 million is very conservative IMO, the good news is this fight will be happening so we don't have to keep arguing about it. Someone will be right.

320k isn't bad numbers imo, but not a crazy success.

First fight couldn't even attract Vegas lol and still did that well. That's basically GGG vs Lemieux and Ward vs Kovalev 2 combined. Or similar to Canelo vs Smith another Brit who didn't have a chance.

The fight being controversial isn't by itself going to add buys. It just adds to the over all package when selling the 2nd fight.
This fight was thrilling tbh, Fury doing so well at the start wasn't out of the realms of possibility but you just knew Wilder would get him lol. Then the last 4 rounds I was praying for Fury to hold on and he nearly didn't. Ffs Wilder was dangerous every second of every round.

1 million conservative? Can I smoke whatever you smoke please.

Canelo v GGG 1 did 1.3 mil buys and we had a draw which was disputed result.

Canelo v GGG 2 did 1.1 million buys.

That's Canelo. The biggest draw in the sport.

1 mil buys for Wilder v Fury 2 is fantasy talk. To call it conservative is just ridiculous.

OMG I honestly didn't know Canelo vs GGG 2 did worse, ffs I didn't give an f about it which is probably why I didn't know.
I saw threads saying it did 2mill lol???? What happened to that???

The funny thing is CaneloGGG left a sour taste on many peoples mouths, people were actually saying they were put off boxing after that pathetic fight that ended so atrociously. I was actually predicting 2 to do worse, and when I found out it did 2mill I was like wtf do I know.
Turns out I was actually spot on lol, guarentee part 3 would do even worse lol!!!

Wilder vs Fury has left with people asking for more!!! I have heard people say they can't stream part 2, they must watch it in HD next time lol

But the number suggests it was pretty much the same people that bought #1 bought #2. To see 3 or 4 x growth for any fight would be unheard of.

If a rematch did double of what the first fight did it would be a major success.

When you start at a number so low like 320k it isn't as hard to grow 3 or 4 x though.

We will see, I am basing my prediction of 1mill minimum based on the fight occuring next.
They need to strike while the iron is hot, I feel like there is a little bit of main stream appeal for this fight now.

This could easily evaporate if they muck around or someone gets injured, fight needs to happen before the 2nd half of next year.
    May/June 2019 at the latest.

It's great for the sport having its premier division at the top again.

I hope Fury makes AJ go to Vegas to fight him after he whoops Deontay in part 2 LOL

Fury could be a crossover star like McGregor, he's far more charismatic than that Leprechaun IMO

He certainly wasn't managed correctly. If he was British he would of been huge over here.

I actually think he's been managed to perfection.

Wilder has improved every fight, every year. He would have taken many L's if he had to do it like AJ.

Now Wilder is a force to be reckoned with, if he was fast tracked he might be flipping burgers.
