The Benn of the McClellan fight vs the Robinson of the St. Valentine's day massacre. Keep in mind the weight differential of nearly 15 pounds. In 1951, Benn would have been a light heavyweight that night

Robinson completely and utterly destroys Benn.

I think SRR would be weary of Benn's power early. He jabs and moves through most of the bout, then starts to open up in the later rounds. I see SRR landing lots of his trademarks right uppercuts as the fight progresses if Benn tries to recklessly bully or charge him. Benn is as tough as it comes and it goes to a decision. SRR on points by a wide margin. Benn's lack of a jab and crouch style wont help here in this match up.

I think you're severely overrating Nigel Benn and his ability.

The St. Valentines day Robinson would end Benn inside of 6.

of all the British wbo champs, Benn was the only one who was truly proven as being elite. Nevertheless it would count for little here as he gets slowly taken apart by a guy who just knows too much about benns style.

Woah woah hold on. Lesser fighters than Benn have put down Robinson for the count. Fighters we have never even heard of gave supposed prime versions of Robinson trouble. Refined brawlers like Graziano and Fullmer could stay competitive with Robinson and even put him down. Benn is a fairly well refined brawler, is he not? Who put Benn away so easily? Over 15 its a no brainer, Robinson wins by knockout. But for 12, or even 10, Benn might just make it out alive in a close fight.

I didn't mean to say he was completely knocked out. Just downed. It was a slip of the tongue regarding an obvious fact about one of the most famous boxers, on a boxing forum. Why would I lie about it. Why dont you instead respond to the other points.

Col. Sanders and Xplosive both nicely sum it up for me...the first 2 or 3 rounds would be "tricky" since Benn is a dangerous guy...but if this is St. Valentine's Day SRR, or even a few shades less, liken the versions who ko'ed Fullmer and Graziano,...then Benn is doomed...doomed. Robinson was like a hired killer and Benn get's destroyed...you pick the hand he ends it with....the left or the right.
