Hoping for a nick Blackwell type recovery before he decided to spar again. I can't imagine what his family must be going through, the not knowing how he will be when he wakes up must be utterly terrible waiting in anticipation.

This isn't great for boxing. My sympathies go to his family. On a pure human empathy level I'll be bigger this his past behavior & wish him well too.

The doctor said that he will probably have diminished capabilities but that they can't tell, really. They would have 100 similar cases and observe 100 different ways the body will respond (if I make any sense).

To me his state inspires indifference. I would feel terrible if a guy like Bernard Hopkins was on critical condition. A guy jailed for strong armed robberies. He served his time and turned his life around. I may even feel bad if a murderer was in this situation if it was a crime of passion. And that guy turned his life around.

But a sexual predator is just something else. How do you even get turned on by threatening underage girls? Hes a sick deviant jackass. Putting out cigarettes on women? Hes a POS. Pimping out young women to creepy old ****s? Hes twisted.

    **** this guy.

When they wake him he will likely be completely disoriented and babbling.. best case scenario. Every brain injury and person is different of course. But when they say he suffered a severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) it means best case he will at a minimum not be the same and require a lot of rehab... this includes cognitive, physical and speech therapy. Even if he has the best recovery that has ever happened he will most likely never fight or spar again and will always be in danger of and have a higher risk of a second TBI on going... and second TBI's do not go well. He will need to protect his head with normal daily activities. From what I've read so far it seems that he is in Critical/Stable condition.. better than Critical/Critical but not out of the woods yet by any means. The brain goes through a dangerous cascade process the few days or so of a TBI and it is during this time that a lot of damage can happen. It also sounds like he may have had a ventriculostomy performed to relieve pressure on brain in addition to being intubated.

I had a friend who suffered a severe TBI from a stair fall. They kept him sedated for about 4-5 days and when they woke him (after attempting it twice before) he was talking but incoherent. He suffered a subarachoid hemorrage (SAH) and moderate diffuse axonal injury (DAI). At first they though he might end up in a persistent vegetative state based on MRI's which looked very bad before waking him if he survived but he had a spectacular recovery and after a few months of inpatient rehab in a TBI focused skilled nursing facility.. he was able to walk and communicate and avoided a shunt for a mild hydrocephalus that had developed. Years later though he still has a moderately severe short term memory deficit (and has difficulties dealing with it), some cognitive deficits and some minor gait issues. It has dramatically impacted his life. The drugs he needed to take during the early recovery time alone (including an anti-psychotic) caused a lot weight gain and brought on things like sleep apnea.. which does not help.

They don't provide much specific info about Adonis and the exact nature of the TBI (severity of DAI if he suffered this etc) but i remember the doctors saying the longer they keep a person sedated, generally speaking, the worse the outcome. His family should stay near him and as he stabilizes and improves they should talk to him even if he is not very communicative back and tell him encouraging things with no negative talk... tell him how well he is doing etc.. and also let him rest as well which is very important. Anyway, I do wish him and his family well and I hope that he has the best recovery that is possible given the particulars of his injuries.

The fight itself was great but it looks bad. I think he took too much damage in sparring prior the fight. I don't think he will be the same ever again. He will be disabled for rest of his life. The swelling on brain is the key issue why they are kepping him sedated so long, they try to minimize it but with minimal effect so far. But the toughest part will be waking him up and what happens after that.

Used to torture women. I didn't know that. I'm not going to go as far as saying he deserves it but I'm finding it really hard to care right now, a total piece of ****.

That is a s__t article because it doesn't mention why so many single him out. It's not because he has a criminal past, not because of the pimping in general, but for the extreme sadistic brutality that came with it. "Normal" people wouldn't even come up with the sick things he did to these girls, and THAT is what it's about.
Like mentioned there are many boxers that have a past, but there's a past and there's his past.

That said, I feel for his family though.
