Guys... its been a few days now, emotions have subsided, hopefully we all have a more objective perspective available now than the night of the fight. So, with that in mind.... I keep rewatching that 12th round... and I am in disbelief of Furys energy, stamina and recovery. Guys. Hes 6ft 9. 250lbs. 30 years old. Look at his style, and while its not a high volume style, it is a high energy one. Is it not almost historical the level of energy he fought at throughout that fight *given his size and age*? Keep in mind, its fatiguing to fight a puncher that you have to be perfect for, a puncher that makes you walk on thin ice and is one step away from knocking you out at every turn. Its a different level of stress than fighting a lower level guy that you feel safer with. So when you take it all into account.... the size, the weight, the form, the energy, the comeback from obesity, ect ect... All that factord in... was this a historic performance? Or am I overreacting? I have also been forced to view Fury as a much more formidable head to head fighter historically than I did previously. Last note : Im probably a minority on this, but I actually don't want a rematch. Although Fury has to probably be favored to win the rematch, Wilder still has the ability to end him any round, and at this point, given what most of us saw... I think everyone saw what we needed in terms of how these two match up, and Id rather see both guys keep their campaigns moving by taking on the rest of the division. But thats just me.
Judging from the couple of minutes of highlite footage I saw, both of these guys still stink. It took Deontay Wilder's complete lack of skill to make Fury look somewhat competent by comparison, but no, they are both awful boxers. They are very lucky that you can't teach being six foot nine. In any other division they'd have their balls fed to them.
I am pretty sure Fury is insane enough to train the ability to recover after KD. Also knowing the fact that Wilder was going to try nailing him.
I guess it was historic as a comeback fight. Because those with Seferi and Pianeta were rather a show/joke.
I have to admit I still haven't even seen it yet. Of course I saw highlights and the knockdowns, including the ridiculous controversy, but I haven't come around to watching it yet. Maybe this weekend. So for me not so historic obviously. Maybe when I actually saw it.
I've watched their other fights. They always stink. They haven't improved at all. Wilder still windmills and Fury does bad impressions of good boxers.
Historic? check the punch stats, this was a dreadful fencing match interrupted by two rounds of action.
I agree totally, Wilder has to be the most amateurish swinging heavyweight champ in history. As for Fury , he got dropped twice by this windmiller , The work rate in this fight was non existent and Wilder was still gassed after 9 rounds.
Wilder is simply an awful boxer so it was never a surprise that a fully-fit Fury would make him look like a clown. However as we all know, Fury has just come off a fat farm and looked crap against Pianeta. I was expecting Wilder to sleep him through sheer physicality. The amount of work Fury managed to do to improve himself between Pianeta and WIlder was historic. I think Fury is still only at about 80%. If they have a rematch I think he stops Windmillo. And also: at the salty farkers still crying because Wilder got his donkey tail pinned on him
the amount of work in stopping being a slob "is historic". LMAO. This is a boxing forum not flabfighters.
yup. Japanese whalers were sharpening up the harpoons at the rumour of the "great land whale" of Britain. He did an amazing job at recovering from that.
