Witherspoon had Holmes on the brink of a stoppage loss, a few more clean punches and Holmes was out of there IMO. Holmes dug deep and fought back like an animal, catching Tim with some big shots of his own. The question is, did Withersoon ease up because he had shot his load or did Larry actually have him hurt with his own shots.
Witherpsoon landed a hard right, I think in the 9th, but Holmes came back strong. That had something to do with the result. Holmes was among the toughest more durable champions ever, and great in the finals 3 rounds with energy to spare.
He had Holmes in big trouble, very close to stopping him but then Holmes caught him with a good right of his own. I don't know if that stopped him in his tracks or if it was just fatigue. Either way Tim didn't really seem to give it his all to get the finish.
I don't think Tim Let him off the hook. He paused to regroup after unloading on Holmes, and Larry returned the favor. Tim may have been a bit gassed after the 9th round. The difference in the outcome, I think, was experience.
This content is protected I think Holmes may have hurt Witherspoon with the right hand that lands with around 1:12 left in the round. He really dug deep and showed what a great champion he was
Holmes heart as big as the ding dongs tim stuff himself full of after this fight for the rest of his big titty life. Witherspoon s heart as big as this-.
Part of it due to inexperience, part due to the fact that Larry was a great fighter who had been through the trials.
Near the brink of a stoppage?? What are you watching man? Not denying Holmes was hurt but a near stoppage. I dont think so. Hes firing rocket rt hand counters the entire time then as per Holmes he dominates the end of the round. Your really stretching it here Wass.
I did and your reaching man really reaching. Holmes although hurt like I already stated was firing bullets back the entire round and as per Holmes was dominant by rounds end. Hardly someone on the verge of being stopped. Maybe you wish he was but it's simply not the case.
I am not reaching, he was hurt by the initial onslaught and close to being finished with the second onslaught until he caught Tim with a great right hand.
a lot of Spoons major wins were close decision, he was not really a guy with killer instinct (although he did have power) but I think in this fight it was experience because Tim only had 15 fights and credit to Holmes, he was a warrior. Its acually very sad that Tim did not get an immediate rematch with Holmes, that in itself was a travesty of justice in a corrupt era.
