On many of the slow mo replays in Wilder vs Fury, I was fascinated with how Fury's gloves were on his hand. As he threw punches, it was clear to me that the impact part of his glove was not secured by his fist because the end part of his glove was constantly moving and flapping around as the punches landed on Wilder. It almost seemed like he was wearing his glove in a way that gave him a longer reach. (anotherwords, how it looked was like the wrist part of the glove was where his fist was, and it was empty where his fist was supposed to be - that's how it looked on the slow mo replays, with the end part of the glove flapping around as he punched) While gloves do move around during punches, it just seemed to me that the end of Tyson's gloves were way more "empty" than they are supposed to be. It was like there was not enough padding to secure the fist inside the glove and it caused the end of his glove to flap back and forth. I just wanted to know if any of you noticed this, and do you think that gave him an unfair advantage with being able to have the end of the glove flap around on punches and stuff. Sort of gives him a longer reach, makes it easier to land, and makes punches look a little flashier. At the same time, it must lower his power / impact.
What about not throwing his jab properly? The ref had to stop the fight and warn him in the second Chisora fight at 30:24 minutes This content is protected
That's a wonderful example of what I observed. It's that slapping action out of the top of the glove that alarmed that ref in the Chisora fight. That's pretty much what I observed vs Wilder, but you can really see it in the slow-mo high FPS replays in the Wilder Fury broadcast where you can see the top of the glove flapping back and forth as Fury punched. A lot of those shots landed too and surely won him some of the rounds. That's why I bring it up. Basically vs Wilder, Fury was landing punches with the top of the glove moving independently of the fist / wraps, flapping around with a whiplash effect as the punch landed.
The gloves are checked in the ring before the fight begins If there were any anomalous aspects to the fit of the glove his opponents would feel the difference and call it out Fury enjoys a significant reach, speed and footwork advantage over almost everybody he fights, why would he risk doing this to get 1 more inch he doesn’t need?
That's what I'm trying to figure out. But he's been warned about it in the past and clearly on the slow-mo reply you can see a whiplash affect of the top of his gloves. No one else I've seen's gloves do that, gloves are supposed to fit like an extension of the fist. The top of the glove is supposed to have padding so it can't do that. I want to understand how Fury wears his gloves so that during the fight the top of Fury's gloves is allowed to flap back and forth on punches independent of the fist / wraps.
Yup hid hand isn't clenched in a fist. After he was put down in the 12th and got up and started to hit wilder and do some damage there no flapping because he made a fist.
