The words of Adam Smith on a YouTube channel (seconds out) when asked about AJ Fury. Interesting statement as well were he states we may have to wait 2 or 3 years before we see these fights. I posed the question in a different thread. But after such ridiculous statements, I'm now convinced boxing politics will rob us of these fights.
Sky won't be open to splitting it. BT I doubt would split. Why also make a ridiculous statement saying 2 or 3 years off? I cannot stand the bloke.
Lol Smith is the head of sky boxing, what did you expect him to say? The idea of splitting the Broadcast over the 2 networks is ridiculous. This is a tiny country, it’s not America with HBO & showtime having almost completely different audiences. If Fury wants AJ anytime soon he will have to fight on Sky- probably cutting Frank out of the deal it’s as simple as that really.
This fights only happening if BT pull the plug on boxing and ergo Warren, then there may be a hope of something sooner but then we've got all the fun and games of whose A-Side etc to go. But now Fury is back in the fray then BT have even more reason to stick with it and Warren, so yeah, long long way off if at all tbh. Joshua could potentially be tied up for the next two-three years with Miller, Usyk, Whyte and Wilder and it honestly would not surprise me to see Fury having a massive Vegas payout with Wilder, a few glorified sparring sessions against say Joyce or whoever else is on the non-Sky scene then retiring and doing lucrative touring talks on his comeback from the brink for the rest of his life.
Creepy Adam and smarmy Eddie are well and truly under the cosh on the back of what Fury did on Saturday. Hearn giving interviews saying Fury vs Wilder ''weren't a great fight'', Smith talking about Joshua fighting somebody meaningful in a few years. What a shambles. Even the power of Sky Sports can't gloss over such an embarrassment.
Surely it just depends on what they do next? Joshua has been progressed at a seriously rapid rate. Approximately 100,000 people watching Tyson at the weekend doesn't suddenly change the fact that Joshua is absolutely massive in this country. Of course the fight would be on Sky Box Office. Joshua is contracted to it.
Ot surprising and at least he was truthful. They won't let Joshua go to BT or joint venture it and if not the it will likely take years.
Instead of Eddie having to bother with an Undercard, we can just have some QI Episodes from 2011 up until the ring walks.
100% the fight will be on Sky. Warren was recently outbid by Hearn on BJS/Andrade, I don't think BT would stand in the way of making a Fury vs Joshua fight.
