He definatly has serious power, but his power is limited. It’s only really the long looping right that’s worth talking about, it’s the momentum and leverage he gets with the shot, so he can’t really be talked about in the same breath as those mentioned. He can’t knock you out with a short right or an uppercut on the inside, unlike those mentioned. In away it’s a shame that his boxing skills are so basic. Anyone who compares his power to the others has got the definition of power wrong, his single right hand compares reasonably well but one shot will never define power.
He lands a right hand....Liakovich backs into the ropes....He lands a right hand and Liakovich tumbles to the floor convulsing as Wilder totally misses a last right hand. That's a one punch knockout to me, but you're welcome to consult with your personal rule book.
Hardest single puncher for his weight for sure. But as with all KO artists, their KO ratio tends to fall as their competition rises. Foreman couldn't hurt Jimmy Young, so he retired. He couldn't stop Morrison, Holyfield, Alex Stewart, Lou Savarese. Point: he only stopped 2 out of his last 8 opponents. Before his retirement ala Jimmy Young, he was 45-1. Outside of Ali & Frazier, what world class fighters did he beat? Life & death with Lyle and Norton who lost 4 out of his 7 by ko. Tyson, just a brute force of nature, heavy handed & menacing, but same thing; as he rose in competition his KO ratio dropped.Talk about Fury getting up against Wilder, Buster rising against Tyson was pretty amazing too. Holyfield never came close to being dropped by Tyson. &...Wilder has no Etienne, Seldon phantom knockdowns. Ernie Shavers 68 out of 74 kos Foreman 68 out of 76 kos Tyson 44 out of 50 kos Wilder 39 out of 40 kos. Only those living in the Wilder era can make a case that he doesn't have the power to be rated with the names mentioned. I'd bet both testicles that 20 years from today, those who never seen his era would rate him along with the greats of the past. He beatdown those he was supposed to, but as his competition rose, his KO ratio dropped. I still say P4P Julian Jackson was/is the hardest one punch KO artist. As far as HWs, Tyson overwhelms with several punches. George probably beats Shavers IMO, but for extension? I'd say Lennox Lewis rates top 10 most powerful HW's.
He was clearly stunned from the first 1-2 and downed by the second 1-2 followed up by a hook. It was a 5 punch KO.
Wilder's record is full Amir Khan level opponents in terms of durability. So as of now, it's untested against actual durable opponents. Wilder's power is GROSSLY and INSANELY overrated! David Haye would KO pretty much every guy Wilder KO'ed and some more.
You are an utter idiot. Do you really think Wilder wouldn't have kod Ismael abdoul or taken less than 8 rounds to ko lasse Johanson, or outright lost to Karl Thompson, let alone not koing him? According to your asinine logic, those events mean Hayes power is vastly overrated. The fact remains by any reasonable standard, Wilder has dispayed historic level power. Reasonable discussions (hence, discussions you are incapable of) can be made about whether he is the very best of the era or all time, or just among the top. But no one has a record of displayed power that is clearly superior. Looking at subpar opponents, minimally, his rate is unsurpassed, perhaps unparalleled. But, regarding your idiocy, what can one expect from the guy who did the biggest reverse in forum history? The guy who made an ad nauseum thread about how no fighter under 6'4 would have over a ten % chance of winning a belt at HW And then reversed himself to make asinine assertions that 6'3 Usyk should be favored over the field. All the while making pathetic attempts to distinguish and excuse the about face, indulging in both outright lies and trivial distinctions. At least have the courage to admit you changed your mind. Grownups admit they are wrong. I've done it about fighters I was wrong about (Wilder being one of them). You should try it sometime, you'll be a better person for it. Feel free to respond to this post days from now again. You don't have the guts to engage in an actual, timely debate. And Im not going to bother when you run and hide for days at a time. You have no actual logic to back you up anyway, just the specious, superficial blather you specialize in.
