"I'm not disrespecting Pacquiao, but I don't want to make my name bigger because I beat an old legend. I have my own road. There are a lot of good fighters to fight who are comparable to me. He's old. I think his career is done. I don't want to become a legend in boxing because of him." I'm a massive Lomo, but this is garbage. A drained135 Pacquiao would still SLAUGHTER Pedraza and present bigger problems for Loma.
I disagree with him slightly but I understand why you wouldn't want to fight Pac at this stage, if you beat him, you'll get no credit and if you lose, that's even worse. Fighting a guy on his way out is a risky thing.
does loma think hes the only one aware that pac is old? he would still break anyone youve fought in 2. theres a whole lot of atg's who had that moment, its how old warriors retire. let nature and design take its course, its part of what makes life long fans of boxing. im not buying it.
It’s a clear duck but Loma gets a pass cos he’s the matrix. Pac good enough for porter, Crawford, Spence, broner or Mikey Garcia, they all want to fight him but not good enough for Loma, pedraza and pacs sparring partner linares is though. He’s a champ and brings in the most money, imo more than Canelo if Pac was fighting as exciting and big name a fight as GGG he would outsell Canelo still. Pac is 1 weight class above him, I believe he’s a natural 140 at this point and it’s obvious because every single guy he dragged up from 140 was bigger than him, Bradley, algeiri, broner, Rios, horn - in fact his stature is for 135 but he’s too old to make that weight. Let’s not forget people were already saying 130 was too big for him when he went up originally, he only went up to 147 for money. Loma knows Pac has enough pop to drop guys like Mosley, cotto, damm near kill Hatton, is wild, fast feet and comes from all angles. IMO Pac is the worst matchup for him, because he will land often and probably knock him out.
Obviously not "old" and "done" enough to take a career high payday to show us. Just be real and say the size is too much of a difference and he doesn't want people to start clamoring for him versus a list of big WW's.
That he's not just picking a way past his prime fighter for his name, he wants to fight the best, his career backs it up ! tbf mate, its clear as day
I tend to agree with Loma that Pacman is way past his best. How much credit would he really get if he beat him? That said Pac isn't shot yet, is still dangerous and the fight would be huge. From a business perspective it makes a lot of sense. If Loma thinks the weight difference is too much then he should say so. He looked tiny vs Linares.
Business, yes it does, but imo hes different to most, he aint cherry picking, give him the fights that mean something. He gets zero credit with this Pac version
