    Juan Manuel Marquez, when he fought someone who wanted to box and counter punch was adept at it, see his fight with Victor Polo and Manuel Medina for example, and even decently well against Derick Gainer, who was solely interested in escape. It also allowed him to swiftly pile punishment on fading opponents who were in retreat, as against Casamayor and Diaz.

    Ali said even though he beat George it was hell trying to get away from him during the rumble, Ali had to clinch a lot in the first round of that one before he had to revert to the rope `a dope.
