Any chance of this happening as the chief undercard match for Wilder Fury II? I think it would be a kick ass fight and it would make a lot of sense for all parties:

    A. Dom always comes to fight, and from all I've seen Joyce does too. Both are similar sized. Joyce looks more talented, but the gulf in experience would make it as close to 50/50 as you get. The winner would not only be clear top 10, borderline top 5, but would very likely be a crowd pleasing favorite. Dynamite combination because:

    B. The winner would be an instantly groomed PPV worthy opponent for the winner of Fury Wilder. It could help AJ negotiations, because there would be an obvious alternative to AJ (apart from a Fury Wilder III) that could work if Hearn doesn't come down far enough.

    C. They could probably make it for cheap. Joyce would probably (or at least SHOULD, if he's advised right), absolutely jump at a chance to leap ahead of the line by fighting a beatable opponent which would immediately establish him as a force in the division. I would do it for peanuts and a pat on the head, if I was him. 50-100k should get it done. At his age he has absolutely no time to waste. Dom would be a trickier mark, he's mandatory to Wilder and would be putting it on the line. But he was going to get what, 200-400k at most, fighting Wilder on general showtime? He would be a big underdog against Wilder (or Fury). Here, they could pay him twice that to fight a winnable fight, where if he pulled it off he could multiply his earnings by 5 times or more against Fury/Wilder. They paid Hurd over 1 mil to fight a nobody in Wilder Fury I. They could pay Dom and Joyce less than that combined to fight a highly interesting fight that could set up another good fight and or help in AJ negotiations.

Would you want to see this fight as a/the chief undercard to Wilder Fury?

Breazeale’s window is quickly closing, if it hasn’t already. The division was still pretty weak at the time he lost to Joshua, and if he’d stayed active he might’ve gotten another title shot by now, or at least be in position for one. I’d rather see Joyce-Ortiz, but sure it’s pretty good too. Breazeale has to get past Negron first though, which may not be as easy as it seems.

Yeah, Negron's got very good power. Dom should win, but an odd, high risk low reward stay busy fight considering his mandatory status.

I'd rather see Dom v Joyce, just because this one is about as pure a 50/50 fight as it gets. Joyce's talent vs Dom's experience and toughness. Joyce Ortiz is a bridge too far imo. Going from fighting sub top 50 fighters to a near consensus top 5 fighter is a recipe for disaster. I'm not ruling out a Joyce win in that, but on paper there is too much of an imbalance for me to be as excited about it as Dom v Joyce.
