What is the treatment for this nowadays? I remember Jackie Turpin saying that when Randolph Turpin was passing blood after losing to Bobo Olson they took him back to the hotel and covered him in ice... That doesn't sound like a sure-fire treatment to me.

Supposedly bleeding time is longer the higher your body temp is, older studies show. So ice would cool your body down causing a swelling and slower blood flow. It's my belief that the older the study the better the study.
