Best Putin won a wide but competitive UD dropping the iron-jawed Abreu twice, once in the first heavily, and a sent reeling into the ropes KD in the 8th. Abreu appeared to hurt Best Putin in the 4th or 5th IIRC and the Russian grabbed a hold of him and they both took a tumble to the canvas dragging the ref down with them.

Abreu is a tough and awkward customer for anyone, let alone a 11 prospect and he can punch (19 of his 21 wins coming via stoppage) and is very dirty. He bundled Best Putin to the canvas at point point and cracked him with a huge shot when he was on the canvas. I think it only partially landed but he really loaded up on it. Best Putin did much better against Abreu than an 19-0 Egis K did who in addition to giving Egis a very tough fight also has wins over Soto Karass and dropped a then 17-0 Jamal James.

Crawford's trainer Big Mac was doing the commentary for the fight but it seemed like he didn't want to give Best Putin much credit.

 

So he is. I didn't realize he was rated that high. I think he needs experience against top competition before they throw him in at the deepest end, but he's definitely a talent and he's looked very impressive so far.
