I think Tank has a chance vs Loma but he has to fight Loma by 2020 to get full credit, if he does beat Loma
Will Loma stop avoiding skilled rugged Latin fighters now? He left 130 without having faced Machado or Berchelt. He didn't face Davis either, he preferred to fight blown up smaller men.
LMAO learn about Boxing before u comment. Manny Pacquiao destroyed Marco Antonio Barrera @24, Mayweather had destroyed the entire 130 division by age 24, Muhammad Ali beat Sonny Liston at age 22. Teofimo Lopez is 21 and there are already talks of him fighting Loma. So what ur telling me Canelo just now entered his prime @28 so all his other fights didn't count? U seem more like a Tank fanboy that dosent want to see him lose. If Tank is not in his prime now than he never will be
I'd bet my house on Loma piecing Davis up. He looker slightly less than his peerless best but still brilliant last night. Gets a pass from me considering his surgery.
Pedraza isn't a brawler, he's more a cute boxer type, not a pressure fighter with power. I think Lomachenko is absolutely the goods, it frustrates me as a fan to see him steered in the path of least resistance though. It's like the Salido L made them more selective. He handled Russell Jr, his best win to date, but then didn't stay at 126 and fight Marriaga, Valdez, Santa Cruz, etc. He moves to 130, but then fights two blown up featherweights, a super bantam, and a shopworn titlist, while not fighting the three or four best guys at the weight. He then moves up to 135 which is fairly devoid of talent outside of Garcia. Linares is DeMarco's son by the way if you don't recall. My point, Loma is talented enough to clear **** out at 126, 130, 135, he doesn't have to have selective match making.
126-130 guys were either busy or were not going to fight him. Loma didn't want to keep facing the likes of Piripiyano so he moved up for better challenges. Who the hell would move up divisions as some sort of duck?
I think he should move back down to 130 though, if he can't get Garcia. I really think that's his optimal weight class and it's got some good opponents there. LW is kinda **** and he'll always look not-his-best since he'll be constantly facing bigger guys.
Physical prime is 20-22. Boxing prime (usually, with some exceptions) 24 -28. Really ? At 23, Mike Tyson's boxing prime was already over. He had won ten title fights and had become undisputed world champion. At 23 Floyd had already had his epic victory over Corales. At 23 Pac had already had his epic victory over Barerra. At 21 Duran had already had his epic victory over Buchanan. At 24 SRL already had his epic victory over Benitez. At 24 Ali had already had his epic victory over Liston (and had made 8 undisputed title defences). At 24, with 20 pro fights on his resume including four world title fights, Davis has definitely entered his prime. At 30, Loma is near the end of his.
If by "selective matchmaking" you mean that he was fighting available opponents in possible fights people wanted to see then yes, I guess it's "selective matchmaking".
Physical absolute prime is mid 20s. Some guys can get a bit better technically/experience wise into the late 20s/early 30s. 32 is sort of the normal age where fighters start deteriorating. To be honest it depends form fighter to fighter when they reach their peaks, more physical fighters tend to be at their best in mid-early 20s, whereas technical guys usually see their peak a bit later on. Davis is one of those guys who I think at least bloomed early and he's already a champ. I think it'd be excusable if he was still on the come up, but he's already an established guy.
