I was gutted Ortega didn't get the W here. Holloway showed great sub defence and never looked in danger

I think Ortega spent too long on the feet but I guess if he'd have focused on BJJ the full fight it would have ended like Maia Vs Woodley

I don't like him and think he's a bit of a sissy compared to most of his peers. Inside and outside of the cage.

Ortega was forced out of his fight. and he did try for the takedown especially early on and did get Holloway down/back in the 3rd but it wasn't enough. Plan I think was to strike and wait for a mistake/hard shot and then capitalize with a takedown. That was probably the most viable way for him to win and it would have been enough against anyone in the division more likely than not... Just not Holloway.

What? 10-7s are handed out in MMA. Ortega got the **** beaten out of him for the entire round and was dropped at the end. The doctor then stopped it in the corner. Sure it might have been a 10-8 but a 10-7 isn't outside the realm of possibility .

I saw a worrying stat earlier in the week that I should have payed more attention to which showed Ortega has by far the worst ratio of strikes landed to strikes absorbed.
Ortega has always been a slow starter and been able to take damage and come back to ultimately finish fights but you can't expect to give up early rounds and take that type of damage against a fighter like Holloway,I just hope Ortega learns and comes back better.
This graph is just further evidence of how much better Holloway is to the rest of the division when it comes to strikes differential.

No doubt he took a load of damage but 10-7s aren't handed out that often in MMA and there is zero chance that round ever gets scored 10-7

Eh whatever. It was a dominant round. 10-8s are supposed to be handed out more liberally now anyways. For whatever reason they wew hesitant to hand them out the way they should on that card. That round was DEFINITELY at the very least a 10-8 and 10-7 might be a bit of a stretch but it was certainly a hell of a lot closer to than it was a 10-9. I scored round 2 of Anders/Theodorou a 10-8 which you and many others agreed with. Rd 4 of this fight was more dominant than that. So while 10-8 might be the right call(I won't argue with it) a 10-7 isn't an egregious score.

Holloway is the real deal, no doubt. I actually believe Ortega is as well tbh.

It's clear that Ortega needs a ton of improvement in his stand up game which should include joining 1 of the better gyms or at least bringing in a new coach to help his BJJ coach Rener Gracie, while it wouldn't have changed the result on the weekend I believe Ortega could have done with a better strategy and coaching then he got in that fight.
