It's pretty embarrassing to see grown people and adults worshiping other people or athletes, whilst totally ignoring feats and capabilities another athlete displays, which can be learned and be useful. We have all these 'hero' and 'celebrity' worshiping of people and athletes, to the point where some people have become totally blind. Rather than being open-minded and accepting the high value of the skills and attributes Lomachenko displays in the ring, which can be useful and beneficial if learnt and applied by us, we have idiots who are attacking Lomachenko as a person whilst worshiping other boxers as people, whilst ignoring the only relevant thing, which are the actual skills and abilities those people possess and display. Who cares who Lomachenko is? Who cares who Floyd Mayweather Jr is? Are we not boxing fans? Or are we just blind followers of specific people (athletes) who are of a specific skin color, nationality or any other divisive factor where only those things matter to us? If we were true boxing fans, the only things that'll matter to us are the actual useful and special skills that are displayed in boxing bouts, irrespective of who that boxer is that is displaying those skills. As a TRUE boxing fan, I give rats ass if anybody thinks Lomachenko is the greatest boxer ever, or if Floyd Mayweather Jr is the greatest boxer ever. Nor do I care about who or what they are at a personal level, OUTSIDE of boxing. All that matters to me, is how skillful they are as BOXERS, how SPECIAL their boxing abilities are, and how beneficial and useful those skills are going to be for me if I were to learn and apply them. Rather than worrying about who they are, why don't we instead spend our time studying and understanding their skills better? Why don't we instead appreciate the skills they display? Why don't we learn and apply the skills that would be helpful and beneficial to us? There are many 'great' boxers. Who you choose as the 'greatest', may just be as simple as someone who you find the most appropriate and suitable to emulate to get the best out of your own strengths as a fighter / boxer. So I don't understand why some people get so OVERLY defensive when some fans claim Lomachenko or Floyd Mayweather Jr are the greatest boxers ever? Maybe they are the greatest TO THEM specifically, because it enables them to maximize their own potential as a boxer / fighter if they emulate most of the techniques that Lomachenko or Mayweather are specially known for, since their natural strengths are compatible with those techniques? I don't care so much about the person that is 'Lomachenko' or 'Mayweather'. I care more about the special, useful and beneficial skills they have, that I myself, if I learnt, can benefit from. I think we should all start doing the same! Rather than being closed / narrow minded, we should learn from special fighters like Mayweather and Lomachenko. And before I finish, let me present this video of Floyd Mayweather Jr performing this amazing feat: This content is protected I don't care what you personally think of Floyd Mayweather Jr as a person, but how can you not appreciate the skills being displayed in that video? Heck, even a person with fully functional eyes with just an objective / open minded view will appreciate and accept the high level skills displayed there. It shows the mastery of some of the most advanced skills of boxing! Things we can all learn and benefit from!
The bar was set by the fan boys who was building up Loma to be the greatest thing since sliced breads. The truth he isn’t and hasn’t proven himself to be anywhere near as good as his worshippers are saying. The truth is he is a fantastic talent who athletically is one of the most talented fighters around his weight category but he has flaws just like everyone and no matter how many times you guys dismiss it, the salido fight did happen and it was real. Just appreciate the man for what he is, one of the best p4p guys in the world but nothing more yet coz he has a long way to go, so he will have the odd mehh performance from time to time.
Half of boxing is footwork and movement, especially against someone like Crawford, you could see Benadvidez seemed to have his feet stuck in cement
By who? People have there own individual expectations of him... Loma in all honesty (bit like the Marriaga fight) probably was just a bit bored & found it a bit unchallenging in there, sort of fights to the level of his opponent to try & entertain! It's pretty obvious. . he's level's above these guys! Keep grasping at thin air haters, only think thats gunna beat him is age & maybe pushing the weight jumping thing too far. . Cos Garcia or Tank aren't! Future ATG HOF fighter. Without question. Sowwy . .
anyone criticising him for saturdays performance don't even realise just how complimentary they are being. He dominates and wins a lop-sided decision, with 2 knockdowns, against a 2 weight world champion, former olympian, and because he didn't make him quit or stop him , he's being criticised. Probably one of the best compliments you can give the man.
What a wrote sounds butt hurt? I don’t think so, it’s more a reply to the OP who I suspected rated Loma really high and now seems to be trying to reconcile that his last couple of performances weren’t the ‘ATG’ standard performances he envisaged going into the fight.
I think they should have kept you in a lot longer. They let them out to early these days and they just can't cope!!
His fans set the expectations. Now they are what they are. I almost jumped on that train, but this weekend I saw something that made me question it and I haven't seen anybody else pick up on this (not that nobody has, just haven't seen it): When Loma finally put the hurt on Pedraza and knocked him down the first time (think it was the 11th?) and he's walking quickly to a neutral corner and he makes this shooing gesture. It was kind of frustrated. Like "ok enough already...stay beaten, you pleb...just give up already". Like his expectations are not being met and he doesn't like it. It was sort of petulant. He looked a bit weary as well. The look in his eye at that moment. The thought occurred unbidden: "Juan Manuel Marquez that got up off his ass 3 times in the first round to earn a draw against the absolutely-peaking-at-the-time Pacman would beat this guy. Knock him the **** out, in fact.". So if I give credence to that thought, it follows that had Loma existed in that era, he would have been right at home in the mix of great smaller fighters that existed at the time, but he would NOT have dominated. Anybody feel the same?
