AJ vs Whyte and Wilder vs Fury Could clash

Theoretically if it did happen and we had Joshua vs Whyte 2 at Wembley clashing with Fury vs Wilder 2 (which for arguments sake was happening at Old Trafford) it would be really interesting to see which did better.

If both PPVs were the same price, you’d have to lean towards the Fury fight in this scenario.

I almost want this to happen, Hearn’s reaction would be funny.

 

Just wouldn’t happen as Warren has no power over that fight. On top of this Haymon needs PPV to stay relevant in US so he can keep his fighters away from DAZN. If Wilder vs Fury 2 was a success he can then use this as an example to the rest of his boxers that they can be a PPV star. It’s for this reason Wilder vs AJ will not happen.

 

What should he do then? He can't pull a quality opponent out of thin air.

Joshua v Whyte 2 does more buys than Wilder v Fury 2

 

Oiky made a very short 10 word post and you jumped all over it, trying to mock him for being biased etc. It wasn’t a balanced reaction.

 

I know that, hence why I made it incredibly clear it was a theoretical scenario.

Don’t think so. I think the Fury fight would do better if, for arguments sake, both fights were in the UK at the same time on the same date making it a straight choice.

 

Yeah, it'll be huge because Joshua's in it ..... and Whyte is a decent fighter who tries to beat his opponents up and he usually has some 'beef' with them, and he's been well promoted recently.
The problem is, Joshua-Whyte is probably a one-sided beating, a mismatch. Of course Joshua wants the fight, he thinks he can KO Whyte in a round or two, and it wouldn't surprise anyone if he did.
Whyte has the proverbial puncher's chance.
Still, it's a chance, and a chance that perhaps even Hearn is wary of.

 

Based on what exactly? AJ is doing 1 mil PPV Buys every fight these days.

 

Don't forget Whyte is a much more popular fighter now than before. He did over 400k buys v Parker, sold out the o2 vs Parker and again headlining vs Chisora. All he has to do now is beat Chisora impressively and his hit the jackpot.

 

I think the momentum has shifted slightly - both fights will do huge numbers, I just think the Fury fight would do bigger as it’s unquestionably the bigger fight.

As a disclaimer, this is the only fight that could potentially do better than an AJ fight. I don’t think there’s any way even Sky could build AJ vs Whyte/Miller to make it more interesting than Fury vs Wilder 2.

 

It's the sort of post that shows someone up for being biased.

If literally every opponent isn't acceptable, you're setting someone up to fail regardless. It's fine to moan about a fighter not taking on decent opponents, but your point is totally meaningless if you can't name any. Dare I say, it sounds just like something a casual would say.....

 

I’m not on about AJ’s next fight, I’m on about the over reaction to Oiky’s post.

 

Whyte is a reasonable opponent.
It's just frustrating that Joshua is now on a 2-fights-per-year schedule. If he was fighting 3 or 4 times a year, it would be more interesting.
His hype is so beyond the norm, it seems a bit dissatisfying to wait 7 months to get a fight with Dillian Whyte.

 

Would you have preferred if I'd just said 'it's obvious that if Fury and Wilder fight again you couldn't possibly view any opponent as decent?'
