I can’t bring myself to watch any videos of Wilder as he makes me cringe every time, maybe I’m just too sensitive but I find myself getting embarrassed just watching him and listening to him.r

And after all that he was still only making a mil a fight before Tyson..Broner earned more per fight with no belts and no real chance of winning them fights either

Lol, that's bad and I do the same. I've never come across an adult that doesn't make sense like Wilder

Wilder is clearly trying to undermine Joshua's earning potential to try and get a bigger split, just like how Hearn has been trying to undermine the Fury/Wilder revenue to the same end.

But the difference is when Hearn does it he doesn't sound like a complete moron, biased obviously but he at least has enough understanding of the business to not come off like a complete rube like Wilder. Wilder is obviously using the wrong term to describe Joshua's market saturation but isn't articulate enough to express it in the correct way. Remember this is the genius that came up with "Bombsquad" and "Speak it, believe it, receive it" so expecting a coherent explanation from him is unlikely.

Wilder may have more earning potential in the US but so far he hasn't proved it. $325k PPV at $75 is only $24.3 mill revenue still significantly less than the $40 mill or so Joshua made vs Wlad and Parker in SKY PPV revenue.

    This.

We all know the ceiling is higher in the US and theoretically you can earn more but at the same time one appreciates not everyone is hitting PPV numbers like Floyd did or Canelo does.

The earning potential in the US is higher yet how many fighters can we list who can hit 1 mil ppv buys? It's a struggle.

To fill out a stadium with 100k people every 6 months is a tiny, insignificant figure compared to the weekly pilgrimage football fans make every week. Average attendance for the premier league (top 20 clubs) is 40k. Multiply that by the 10 games played, 38 times a year, just for the top 20 clubs.

Rugby league is way behind and makes up a quarter of those number for the top clubs, but is still way above boxing.

I'm happy to see boxing doing do well here, but it rarely makes mainstream news.

its a sad state when darts is so popular, but truth is there.

theres some regional bias too. On the whole rugbys bigger in the south, west and of course wales, but is viewed comically in say the north east. I am not sure you can rightly claim its 2nd. Perhaps 2nd in your region?
Football would be 2nd for sure, its got a mass appeal despite its flagging image in say scotland.

Boxing tends to congregate around "local heroes" whose appeal is then spread by either painting them as a the villain or hero in other areas. If the CAP fits, wear it - which brings me back to Wilder - as wth all his comments I have no idea what he means.

Same here. He Is absolutely cringe worthy. I think it's a cultural divide between UK and US though, despite the fact that we share a lot of other similarities besides language, when it comes down to personality / persona Americans are way over the top and dramatic.

You can assume that if he doesn't know the actual meaning of a "bomb squad" and what they actually do, he probably doesn't know the meaning of the word "salary cap" either.
It's kinda mind bubbling to think about. ;)

I never said you did say boxing is first. You said its 2nd and as you can see by my post you quoted, I gave you 2nd. Namely rugby league. I gave football stats so you could see the shear difference in numbers when you mentioned filling a 100k stadium.

Fact is, boxing is no way near our '2nd sport".
