This site is full of imbeciles though, to be fair. Sure, it was a boring performance, but only an idiot would hold a 5-1 underdog first-time world title challenger to such standards while he's comfortably outboxing a champion who hadn't lost in years and had never been outboxed by anyone in his whole career.
True. .... and yet, 2 years after Wlad v Jennings, with a clear loss to Fury and ZERO wins in the meantime, Wladimir Klitachko stands apparently as Joshua's crowning glory. That version of Klitschko and Joseph Parker are pretty much the basis for Joshua's number one position, which is really ****ing weak if you're honest. I seem to write this stuff weekly on here and so far no one has offered any sort of valid counterpoint.
The argument that "Fury v Wlad was a pile of turd" hurts Joshua even further, if people actually think it means something. Wlad was very clearly on the losing end of the turd. Then, 17 months later, with nothing to show or prove since being the loser of turd in Düsseldorf, Loser Turd Klitschko steps into the ring against young Joshua, who proceeds to make Klitschko look half decent! Can we say polishing a turd ?
^So true mate. The anti-Fury brigade shits on his win by saying Wlad didn’t throw any rights in that fight and against Jennings... So did Wlad just magically start throwing when he had Joshua on his arse? Maybe, just maybe, Wlad found it easier to land on Joshua’s static head rather than the elusive Fury. Outlandish I know...
They just can't bring themselves to give Fury credit. Any rational boxing fan knows Fury has the superior win over Klitschko, and knows Fury's"draw" with Wilder was a robbery and better than every other result of ajoshuas so far.
Well the reason people go on about the number 1 is because the likes of FW go on national radio, interviews and claiming Fury is the number 1 heavyweight on the planet. So therefore people react to the claim, debate it, argue about it.
Hearn and his supporters have been going on about AJ being number one for the last 18 months or so. Obviously Warren is going to say Fury is number one, and obviously Hearn is going to say Joshua. Both have reasonable arguments. Fans should acknowledge that much.
During which period of time are you measuring? 2018 ? Joshua has wins over Parker and Povetkin. It's debatable whether Fury's "win" over Wilder counts for more than those two or not. Most people believe Fury deserved the win and most would rank that as the biggest win in heavyweight boxing this last 12 months.
Any neutral fans perspective should be there is no number 1 HW until we have 1 man standing. The 3 at the top are so far ahead of the rest in the division.
The walls are starting to close in on Eddie Hearn & Anthony Joshua, casuals are asking the right questions. No where to go for the Matchroom crew. I don't bother anymore rolling my eyes at Johnny Nelson because you know what to expect.
