Fury would confuse him with feints, footwork and angles, and likely beat him to a comfortable decision. Vitali is too slow to really land on Fury (see the Byrd fight) and won't possess a significant height or reach advantage to capitalise on. His chin would see him lasting the distance, but if he can't close ranks with Fury he' be picked off from the outside and maybe find himself badly cut up or swelling taking unanswered shots to the face. And unlike Wilder he doesn't have that one punch equaliser that could turn the tide. He'd need to break Fury down round after round, and I don't see him possessing the talents or the discipline to do that against a fighter like Fury.
Vitali was almost just as awkward as Fury is and was NOT hesitant to let his hands go. He had an ability to see shots coming right as they were thrown and evade or ride them. On top of that... his chin was granite and he was even physically stronger than his brother. It would be a really weird fight with Fury having his moments but Vitali having more of them with his aggression and accuracy. Vitali takes a hard earned UD maybe scoring a knockdown along the way.
Vitali before his shoulder injury for me. He may look robotic like his brother, but the two of them is actually very different in their way of fighting. Wlad is/was quicker and punch harder. They both have good ring IQ’s, but the chin and the attitude is where they differ in a big way. Wlad is safety first, and need to set up his opponent to be truly dangerous. If he is not sure he can come out of an exchange without minimal harm, he would reset and try again. Boxing is as much a mental game, and this is where Vitali prevails. He does not carry the mental scars of being knocked out numerous times, and seems to be mentally tougher all together. Wladimir is criticised for his weak chin, but there is more to it. He seems to freeze when under fire, and either clinches or falls apart. He and Manny Steward build the whole Wlad HW reign around giving him comfort in the ring, which they proved VERY succesful at. Vitali is very different. He is a seek and destroy fighter, and is willing to recieve punishment in order to dish it out himself. He is relaxed in the ring, unlike his brother, which gives him far more energy to spend. He can throw a barrage of punches, and still be fresh even late in a fight. He may not have the power of his younger brother, but he grinds you down. And before his shoulder injury he didn’t throw nearly as many arm punches = he was more powerful. Oh, and of course, his chin is ATG. I would go with Vitali by late TKO.
Just to clarify, when I see "me too," I am not endorsing the #metoo movement. Just to clarify further, when I see "me too," I am not saying that I see me toying with mthez's Mrs. What I mean is, I see Vitali toying with mthez's Mrs. Hope that's all clear.
Fury is unbelievably fast for his size and a fast HW regardless. The fat man has flash. Consider that he looked as fast as Wilder who is far, far lighter. He was even keeping up with Cunningham. All coaches comment on how surprised they are at his quickness, Sanchez and Roach being the latest. Point is, he is much faster than Vitali, who was slower than Wlad. Also has longer reach. Vitali would struggle to find him and with that lean back defence, designed for smaller opponents, get caught all night probably. If Johnson can mark him up and not get caught much, so can Fury. Fury would probably consider Vitali's offence very predictable too. Remember, Fury did make the fight offer while Vitali was watching the hand-wrapping, he's confident.
You realize that "#" means "pound" in some instances. Thus, #metoo can be reconstructed as "poundmetoo". I got Vitali by UD , in a Briggs like fashion. Vitali was meaner than Wlad, and he would not get flummoxed mentally like Wilder by Fury's shenanigans. I don't see Fury being able to stay away from Vitalis constant pressure, and I don't see Klit falling for Fury's feints.
Vitali is exclusively a long rage boxer , he never seeked out and destroyed anybody. Because he throws stiff armed punches from the waist upwards , he needs the gap between him and his opponent. He doesn't like being up close because his best asset is managing distance. His long shots are not effective up close. He was a nightmare for smaller guys with no athletic ability but that style isn't effective on guys his own size , much less a bigger guy with a much larger reach like Fury. To say Vitali stops Fury is laughable when Fury is extremely hard to land on. Vitali was made to miss 700 of his punches against Kevin Johnson who fought the fight with one arm while sitting on the ropes. Thats an abysmal connect rate on a bum. Vitali couldn't land clean enough to even hurt a slick , awkward and highly skilled boxer like Fury, let alone come anywhere close to stopping him.
Two same sized guys with huge reach and unconventional styles against eachother, but one of them with a lot more power and punchoutput. I can't see many roads to victory for Fury in this case other than an injury or home scoring in the UK. Vitali by clear UD or stoppage. where's the poll?
Wrong. Fury's reach is huge at 85' inches. Vitali has a bellow average reach at 79 inches. That huge gap in range means Vitali is goosed.
I think people need to be reminded of how easily Byrd avoided Vitali's shots in their fight, and did so in a manner very reminiscent of Fury's performance against Wilder. Byrd was a tiny HW with little power who was able to back Vitali up and having him swinging at air. At the very least a far taller, rangier, and heavier handed Byrd would have given Vitali a lot more to think about. This content is protected This content is protected
He was injured and still clearly winning the fight. You can't put that up as a reason why Fury has a chance, that's like saying Fury doesn't have one because he lost to McD. Neither are comparable in their prime as they were that night. One injured and relatively green, and one just very green.
