Anthony Joshua was in Central Park in NYC yesterday and no one seemed to notice him. In comparison Wilder visited the Uk and got crowds of people coming to see him. So who’s the global star? Just Wondering ‍♂️

Outside of serious boxing fans, he’s completely unknown in the US. The only U.K. boxer known at all among the general public in the US is Lennox Lewis. And for him only people of a certain age.

He's obviously not the cross over star in the US as he is in the UK. He's obviously known by the hardcore boxing fan but outside of the sport much like Wlad in his day and Fury before he fought Wilder is relatively unknown. Joshua hasn't even fought in the US, he will need to, to raise his profile there to be honest.

Is Canelo known in the UK outside of boxing fans? I'm sure he could walk through Hyde park in London and not get recognised.

Wilders from the US, only ever fought in the US and is not massively known in the US.

    The point is?

Today's boxers in general aren't well known, certainly when from another country. Only reason Brits know Wilder now is because he's a Fury and potential Joshua opponent.
When the Floyd vs Pac mega fight was talked about hardly anyone here knew them and nowadays they're still relatively unknown.

AJ is very popular in the US. He is beloved by many since his appereance in Conan's show.

I think most Americans just feel intimidated by AJ because of his stature, his looks and his fashion sense. Especially last one makes many Americans feel insecure because in times of the internet and exposure to European or Asian culture, they notice they lack behind in terms of fashion.

AJ may be boxing's biggest star since Mike Tyson but he is still not as popular as Michael Jackson, which is why you won't see crowds surrounding him as well.

I'm Dutch, but I'm pretty sure there are many more countries where the vast majority have no idea who they are, as boxing isn't a major sport in many countries.

Ah! I assumed you were from the UK, and I was jesting. Maybe it is different in Holland, but nearly everyone i know from here (Scotland) knows Mayweather and Pacquaio.
