What? Boxing is dying here so how is AJ popular???? Nobody but hardcore fans know him. We don’t even know Wilder and he is the champ:cop:

It took a fat, loud mouthed Brit who apparently had no chance to get Wilder some exposure in his own country

No active boxers are known in the US apart from meatnelo and pacman. America don't give a **** about boxing.

The response of netizens was incredible at this time. AJ was a big topic on reddit as well and even non-boxing fans from the US said they will watch the sport because of him. He is very humble and charmant, also his British accent makes him very popular. Combine that with the fact of being the best HW boxer in decades and you get a star like AJ.

No one in the US gives a flying **** about Boxing. Wilder is an unknown and AJ is an unknown, why can't any of you non Americans comprehend this? On average Boxing gets in the vicinity of 1-1.5 million viewers on a very, very, very good night, but most get around 600,000 viewers. And there's 323 MILLION people in this country, so that's roughly 1/3 of 1 percent that care. Got it?

Funniest fanboy post of the day.

No, he isn't popular in the U.S. Especially in NY where pro athletes are a dime a dozen.

And I didn't even know Conan still had a show.

The only advice I have for AJ in the U.S. is don't bump into anyone and don't start running anywhere. Or the first headlines he'll make in the U.S. will be "Tourist shot by police while visiting NY."

    Honest question.

    Are you a girl?

Because you left out the word "dreamy" in your description above.

i'd say more Americans are saying AJ is popular in the US then the non Americans here.
non Americans are happy with AJ fighting in the UK. great events here and it keeps him on home soil and the uk fans happy. f*ck travelling 10 hours on a plane when we can watch it 30mins/1 hour down the road.

but i see your point in its context

Wilder could be more well known in the uk than joshua is in the us. I dont know.
But thats wilders fault tbh, a wbc american heavyweight champion should of put the spotlight on the sport over there but he hasnt because he faught nobody untill the last year.
Joshua has faught everyone worth fighting, one by one, yes he hasnt faught in the us yet and can you blame him, fk that hes the only unifined champ in the heavyweight division, he calls the shots.
