i think if fury was just taking a break, then he has a claim to it, as soon as you say you are retired or it looks more likely that you wont comeback than you will then it has to be reset, i think it should go to the next undisputed champ with all the gold then start from there, because fury could retire again and come back in another 18 months and still be lineal champ, doesnt make sense. if we get to see who is still standing after fury, aj and wilder battle it out over a couple of years, then thats the man

but after the recent wilder/fury fight, i have no doubt that fury is the man in the division, and i now believe he can be better than what he was but until he cleans up the division, the lineal status is always gonna be up for debate, its his for the taking

I thought he immediately bounced back to being considered lineal after the Peter fight.
It was obviously a while ago and I may be mistaken. I do recall him being proclaimed "emeritus" by
the WBC though now that you mention it

How can anyone expect to keep any titles, belts or claims to Lineal Champ if they were found guilty for abusing Performance Enhancing Drugs?

I like Fury he is a very good boxer and a puzzle for most HW’s but let’s not butter it up, he didn’t take a break, he didn’t retire he failed a test for Nadrolone and refused a test and got a ban until he met its the BBBC and accepted a two year back dated ban.

No Lineal Champ, just a former champ.

Vitali was The Ring champion also and was considered lineal at the time since he succedsuc the retired lineal Lewis. Joshua just said on ESPN that he has never heard of such a thing as a lineal champion before, has no idea what it means and thinks fury just made it up.

He beat Wilder in the first fight. Even with the two knock downs. In the rematch, he can beat the brakes off Wilder. He can knock Wilder down twice even. However, unless he KTFO Wilder he will not win. It will not be allowed.

When a true lineal champion retires, it should be considered vacant until there’s an undisputed champion. Waters are too murky for my liking. Lewis was the last true lineal champion.

No, Tyson Fury is technically not the lineal champion.

He became the lineal champion by beating Klitschko.

He lost the lineal championship when he ceased being a professional boxer, which is when his pro boxing license was taken away by BBoC, following the testing controversy and his alleged retirement.

If you are not a professional boxer, you are not a champion, very simple.

Ton of speculation and opinion over the decades... so how is yours fact? Haha.

It wasn't speculation that a new lineal title began after retirement of the champion. THAT is a fact. See: Marciano. See: Ali. See: Jeffries... Where are all of your examples my man? It seems you badly want Fury to be recognized as the champ but that just isn't the case in a consistent world. His own doing, don't feel bad.

Nobody considered Vitali the lineal champ upon his return. If someone did, then they still would to this day. In which case that person would have considered the lineal title dead with Marciano, Lennox, etc.
