Just read this fight is happening at the 15th, had no idea. Tureano Johnson (20-2, 14KO's) is coming off a long layoff after getting stopped in 12 by Derevyanchenko, and his only other loss was a very controversial 10 round stoppage loss against former Lemmy victim Stevens. Will Lemieux (40-4, 34KO's) be able to stop Johnson, or will Johnson be able to upset Lemieux as he should have done to Stevens in the past? EDIT: Seems like it's off due to Lemmy being severly dehydrated and in hospital. Where are those Saline IV bags when you need them?! Looks like Lemmy can't make 160 safely anymore.
Lemieux by stoppage. Johnson isn't a bad fighter and he probably takes a lot of rounds but I just don't see him lasting 12.
I can see a guy like Johnson beating Lemiuex, he's honestly the prototype, someone that can take a good deal of punishment from a big hitter and hang in there and move their hands and be successful just boxing. Both of his losses were late stoppages, I think against Curtis it was in the last round if I recall. Lemiuex is not that great if someone doesn't sit there and bang or if someone is smart enough to get out of the way of shots. I'm calling the upset (Johnson by decision)
I don't know what it is with people matching Johnson with the most vicious punchers they can find. He's not exactly hard to find. Why not build him up against some regular types for a while? Derevyanchenko really gave him a beating, and now they're feeding him to Lemieux who is probably the hardest hitter at MW. Cut this guy some slack :O
Came to post the same thing. He mustve nailed his managers daughter or something, they're matching him like they hate him.
I'm seriously worried for Johnson's well being in this one. He took a ton of damage against Derevyanchenko and it's a miracle that he didn't suffer a TBI in that one. Terrible work from his corner and the ref in that fight, everyone in the RBR was concerned for his health and outraged by the beating he was allowed to take. He's going to get starched here but I just hope he doesn't suffer any serious permanent damage.
Derevyanchenko made TJ look like a iron chinned warrior Lemieux will make him look like humpty dumpty
TJ has only been stopped late though. I don't think his chin is actually that bad. An early DL KO here would actually be put a lot of my concerns about this fight to rest.
