There was a Toney/ GGG thread a while back and I compared Canelo's defence to Toney's. After going through the highlights a few times back to back I actually think Canelo may be more effective, and that's high praise indeed.

But.

But Canelo is such a creep and Oscar so loathsome that I really can't get behind him as a fighter. It's really like some sort of super- villainous duo have come to boxing and have made a point of it to show how being scuzzballs pays off. If Canelo fought a guy in a wheelchair he'd make sure that the tyres were deflated and the wheel nuts loosened beforehand.

 

Er no. Here's why -

I liked Canelo coming up and wanted him to do well. Then much like Cotto his antics started pissing me off.

He could of stopped doing shady **** and won me back over as a fan quite easily although at this point it appears to have gone too far with his seemingly held belief that he's bigger than any of boxings long held norms a real problem.

You on the other hand would never be able to move your position on him due to your unbridled infatuation.

I didn't see your post/thread about Canelo and Toney's similarities but I have thought that before. Good to know I'm not just seeing things.
