https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/boxing/wladimir-klitschko-sends-text-message-13734086 Long time Klitschko fan, not sure i like this idea. He went out with the majority agreeing that Pulev was the last 'prime' wlad we saw. Jennings, Fury, Joshua he looked old (compared to himself). Thoughts? Troy Aikman once almost made a comeback to the Dolphins after being out for a year. At the time (Im from Dallas) I was so pumped and hoping for it. But in retrospect man im glad he didnt do it. Woulda just hurt his legacy or his brain. Heart says "hell yeah more wlad lets do this'...brain saying 'omg why'. Hopefully Wlad calls it a career for real, nothing to gain from this.
I agree. He's much slower than he was even though the skills are still there. He could clean up 95% of the division but guys like AJ and Fury are going to be a problem.
agreed. His jab/power still looked to be there a bit so he could probably stay at distance and cherry pick his shots easily against less skilled guys. But AJ would come at him more confident this time, as would fury, and deservedly so. Being HW champ for a decade puts him in his rightful place in the pantheon. Enjoy retirement. Dump Hayden for good. There are plenty of hot girls who were on Heroes to go for.
The fact that Wladimir is keeping silent now (and he was fast to debunk his "manager's" words on twitter, so at least he's been following the news) could be seen as an indirect confirmation of those rumors. To come back now would be a mistake, I think.
He doesn't have the chin to compensate for his age, unlike Foreman when he made his comeback. I see Wlad doing good against some of the HW's out there, but not against the top, which is who he undoubtedly wants to fight. Bad idea, imo.
Yes, but now it's too early for that. The point is, if he comes back now and loses, he will get no credit for that and will be even laughed at. But, if he returns at 45+, then, even if he loses (in a competitive fight) his stock will rise even in defeat.
this is exactly why i say no comeback. has so little to gain at the moment. tons to lose. AJ and Fury arent so great that beating them does a whole lot. People will just say 'well i guess they werent that good after all', same **** wlad got his whole career. but if he loses miserably, people will remember a massive losing streak toward the end like RJJ and forget he was once dominant.
George fought stiffs and bums for years before stepping up. The public would never let Wlad get away with more than a few soft touches. Anyone in the top 10 would feel confident against a control freak like Wladimir.
anyone in the top 10 would be confident against him? lets assume this new wlad is roughly the same one who fought AJ...the rest of the top 10 are a step down at least from AJ...i dont follow your logic. seems to me he'd beat most of them still
His brother Vitali was out for 4 years!! and he came back.. and won the WBC and defended it several times... Probably the most impressive HW comeback story of all time??? I mean 4 years, thats insane.
