Has Canelo really improved since the Floyd fight?

He ate much more Mexican Cow balls since then and paid more judges , so maybe he improved his winning record :campeon:
Money talks and Clembuterol does the job :coleman:

If Golovkin was the A side he would have arguably won every round vs Canelo.

He has improved a lot. His offence and defense are better and knowing when to punch and control the action and his range. I am not sure how he would do against Floyd then again. I think he would do better and probably win a decision. People do not improve as much as we think. This fellow Fielding was a good style matchup for Canelo.

    He improved.
He was facing mediocre opponent like Fielding and declining boxer in GGG. But let's see against the prime boxer we can assess him. Until then there's still question marks.

Not really he is still the very good fighter he has always been like when he lost to Floyd. The crux of the issue is that Floyd is so good. Canelo is Canelo.

I would say Canelo has definitely improved a lot.

Personally I think that 154 was too light for him. His body had difficulty with the weight. Here's where he has improved:

    1) Stamina. He has proved that he can fight at a relatively high tempo without gasping like a fish out of water for half the fight. Yes, he still has stamina problems, but they've become much smaller.
    2) Mobility. He was never noted for his footwork. In GGG1 he was extremely mobile and using every inch of space. Hadn't seen that before.
    3) Physical attributes. He clearly takes a punch better than at 154. His chin looked iffy there. No longer. He also seems way stronger and hits harder. The weight clearly suits him better.

    I think he's unquestionably better at 160.

It tells me that Canelo is better but also that Floyd is shot to bits. What we saw vs Conor is not the same Floyd that fought Canelo. I'd like nothing better than for somebody to batter PBF's teeth out, but I couldn't pretend that it was due to anything other than Floyd getting old.

He's improved on the basis that he is older and more experienced, that being said there is no exponential improvement or stylistic improvement as many of his fanatics are claiming. The styles that have given him trouble in the past will still give him that same exact trouble (if he ever fights that style again, which his team seems intent on avoiding)

Also, It's foolish to say "he'd beat Floyd now," of course he would, he's an active fighter two divisions higher than Floyd that's challenging
a retired 42 year old. Who in their right mind doesn't realize that. The fact remains that a past prime, higher weight class than he
ever should have competed at Floyd dominated Canelo when they fought. That will never change. Austin Trout gave him hell. That will never change. Lara schooled him and got robbed. That will never change. 3 movers, and he looked sub par against them all. Then he never fought that style boxer puncher ever again. Evidence presented, this is happening right now at MW, there are four movers (Saunders, Jacobs, Charlo, Andrade), I guarantee his team won't want any parts of them unless absolutely forced. Instead, they call out David Lemiuex LOL, they call out Spike O'sullivan LOL. They call out Golovkin for a 3rd fight LOL. They move up and chop up a lumbering giant.

And just to combat it before someone quotes this and brings it up, the excuses of him being too young at certain points are ridiculous. He was a world champion, a pro for 8 years had already beaten 5 other world champions before fighting Floyd. He was 23. To keep this in perspective, Tyson had conquered the entire HW division at 23 (after winning a title at 20 and only 1 1/2 years into his career), Floyd at 21 destroyed and retired Genaro Hernandez (a year into his pro career), Vargas was running over nearly everyone at 21 (a year into his career). Oscar was 20 running through guys (belt a year into his career). I can go on and on about guys that were that age killing it. The Canelo was "too green" crap needs to end.

I think this sums it up nicely. Canelo has definitely improved. (I am saying that independently of the farce against Fielding this weekend. Rocky put up almost zero resistance on Saturday)

He obviously improved a lit. He has more physical strength, while he was still a griwing kid in that fight. He improved a lot of things, from polishing his combos, to setting up his shots, upgrading his boxing iq and hisplacement in the ring, but especially his defense and counterpunching skills. The way he set up his shots became better, plus he has a lot of experience against the top class boxers under his belt, so he's sharper in the ring.
