I personally think Miller is one of AJ’s best options. Wilder and Fury should be tied up. AJ already beat Povetkin, Parker, and Whyte. So Miller or Pulev would probably be my top picks for AJ to fight next. Unless I’m forgetting someone?
I don’t want to see the Whyte rematch and don’t wanna see Miller either but if Wilder and Fury are tied up then he has to fight somebody on a level below. Maybe Miller is best of the rest and AJ is thinking it will get him some decent US coverage.
Miller is a good opponent but id rather he got in a win to raise his profile a bit more. Ideally AJ would see to Pulev and get him out of the way. He's hogging up his mandatory position with seemingly no intention of activating it. According to IBF rules that mando is already overdue and AJ should be at risk of getting stripped if the fight doesn't happen next. The best option would be Wilder but he's likely to let AJ beg some more. Perhaps months , perhaps years
Miller vs AJ would be a good fight if held in USA as a way of improving AJs profile over there especially if they add some drama to their fight beforehand, decent fight in general tho. Not many better matches for AJ besides winner of Whyte/chisora ll, Usyk If he moves up and possibly Ortiz
What I'm not understanding is why they would scrap wembley to face Miller? What popularity does Miller bring in the US that makes AJ need to go there? Joshua-Wilder will get the US market alive again, and it will help DAZN, but...Joshua-Miller? No. Unlike Wilder who is mostly unknown, Miller is COMPLETELY unknown. AJ promised he would satisfy the British fans and that there was no reason to go to the US, now is not the time to backtrack. He should force Wilder and Miller to fight in the UK, he is the boss whether they like it or not. He should never give in to Showtime and moneygrabber Al's ludicrous demands.
Sales slowed up for Povetkin. They've done several there on the bounce, maybe they think it better to change it around if they can't get wilder.
Ideally (which means it will never happen because this is boxing) we'd have this scenario: Wilder faces Fury for the right to face the winner of AJ/Miller in the Fall. It is the equivalent of a tournament in which 1 (AJ) faces 4 while 2 and 3 square off.
Hearn has always wanted this fight for some bizarre reason. I think it'd be total one way traffic following a contrived build up. I hate that Pulev is in the mix and able to slow down a number of potentially great fights.
