The Holmes of the Norton fight vs the best version of Louis. Who gets stopped or beat up en route to a decision?

The best version of Louis wins. More explosive and hurtful with the punches he beats Larry down the stretch for a solid Ud win.

    Louis.

I know Holmes was underrated for years but to pick him over Louis would be crazily underrating The Brown Bomber.

I don't see Holmes being able to keep Louis at bay but he would last the distance at least.

Whereas I think Joe Louis all the livelong day against any version of Holmes, I would point out that Larry always claimed to have a torn bicep against Norton, so maybe against Berbick, Shavers I or Cooney might be better choices.

Holmes had a torn left biceps muscle going into the Norton fight ,so I pick Louis with confidence.

Holmes a whole lot better than a lot of Louis s title challenger's ,but I belive Larry loses here .Joe by narrow decision win with both men being down during the fight .

I'd go with Joe Louis probably by late stoppage. Perhaps coming from behind to do so. I could see Holmes outboxing him for awhile but The Brown Bomber had an underated Ring IQ and his timing was impeccable.

Louis will time a right over that jab as great as it was. Holmes was tough as nails but Louis was the best finisher there was once he got a man buzzed.

I think Louis matches up well against Holmes, and I see him bombing out Larry eventually.

I really don’t see a stoppage. I would favor Louis by a hair, but wouldn’t bet a dime on it. Ok I might bet a dime but nothing of substance. I could see either guy winning this fight, and think the decision would be close and contested if it could happen. I just don’t see much separating them.

The taller Holmes would probably be 5-8 lbs heavier than Louis, and have a 6+ inch reach.
(The slightly smaller Billy Conn hung in tough with Louis.)

Holmes vs Louis ...A Split Decision result that could go either way.

    Larry Holmes:
    height 6′ 3″ / 190cm
    reach 81″ / 206cm

    Joe Louis:
    height 6′ 2″ / 188cm
    reach 76″ / 193cm

    Billy Conn:
    height
    6′ 1½″ / 187cm
    reach 72½″ / 184cm

I think if Holmes wins it would be a decision. If Louis wins,it would be a stoppage.

Joe Louis will win this fight, don't know if he'll ko Larry since Larry has a huge heart but I can see the Bomber putting Larry down.
