Have you watched much of Smith? Doesn't sound like you have...

He has an excellent jab, and very good movement. He doesn't run but that doesn't mean he gives up his height.

Neither GGG or Canelo want that work, they will get decapitated.
FFS Canelo struggled with the weakling brother lol

WBA holds rehydration limits stating 2019. So there will be a rehydration clause imposed by WBA

Where does this leave GGG? Maybe GGG should fight Smith and they could unify the 168 pound title.

Whether he has an excellent jab or not, he doesn’t use it consistently. I’ve seen Smith vs Fielding, Mohammedi, Rebrasse, Blackledge and Skoglund, I never watched the Holzkien fight but I heard he kinda struggled and I’ve seen him vs Groves too. He has crap movement his only form of defence is to ‘tuck up’ utilising that Gallagher shell defence. He has good body punching, he is aggressive which I like.

Like I said if he can use his reach to his advantage it will be interesting, but if he just gives away like was doing against Groves he will lose. Canelo beat the crap out of Liam smith but obviously Liam smith is very very tough so it took him a while to break Smith down. I don’t expect him to run through Callum either he is in for a fight that’s for sure but Callum will have to perform better than I’ve seen him to pull it off. Against Groves his power bailed him out, Groves was winning the rounds it’s just he couldn’t take any big right hands from the Liverpudlian.

Its not going to be a popular stance but I think this is a stupid idea and am hoping this is just meaningless and empty hot air hype talk.

Canelo is too small for 168.

At 160 there are plenty of very very good, anticipated matchups with people his own size.

    Jacobs
    Bjs
    Golovkin 3
    Charlo
    Andrade

All are good matchups in the weight division hes suited for.

Fans just always want to see fighters pushed until they are pushed beyond their limits... to see how much bigger someone has to be before the fighter in question cant overcome them.

Ive got no interest in seeing Canelo lose due to him fighting a guy who he shouldnt be in the ring with in the first place.

Too many quality fights in his own division. They should be focused on that.

I thought Groves fight was even tbh, Groves nicked a few rounds on work rate, but Smith was visibly hurting him every round. Groves was looking very shakey and has a history of gassing so maybe they were going to turn it on eventually, but I don't think he was in a panic that's for sure.

I think Smith has had some average performances but when he is good he's exceptional. He has looked the part in his biggest fights.

He has been very inactive and in some fights he could win in his sleep and that's when he's underperformed.

His Jab was great against Groves, he looked great when he let his punches go.

Needs to get more aggressive against Canelo and he is smart enough to realise you need to dominate him to win.

Smith isn't an old man, he is fresher than Canelo and so freakishly big for the weight. Lol Canelo will get a shock if he expects another Fielding.

I think Skoglund was a talent, don't think having a harder than expected fight with him was bad. Skoglund would have been a threat in the division I reckon.

Just to remind you... Smith is two inches taller than Rocky, and at least that many levels above as a fighter as well.

If you thought Canelo looked small against Rocky, hes going to look comically so against Smith.

There will be almost 6 inch height difference.

    Half a foot.

To put it in further perspective, its about the same size difference as there was between Pac and Margarito.

    Nah... no thanks.

I don't understand this, Smith is more proven and has fought better opposition. Benavidez would be worse than this, despite still being a good fight itself.

I noticed Groves was hurt from the first right hand Smith was throwing, however smith was letting him off the hook and letting groves dictate the fight with his jab. If he stepped on the gas I think Smith could have knocked Groves out in 3 rounds, that’s how much effect his heavy shots were having on Groves.

I don’t rate Skoglund as highly as you personally he isn’t bad or anything but he isn’t a serious threat to most the top guys, but stylistically he exposed that smith can be outboxed if you have a chin and really work with the jab. It’s shame what happened to Skoglund.

Smith is good but he is very fortunate he is in one of the weakest division in boxing if he was to move to 175, i have Alvarez, Bivol, Gvozdyk, Jack, Browne, beterbiev all beating him.
