Oleksandr Foka, a nutricionist of undisputed cruiserweight champion of the world Oleksandr Usyk (16-0, 12 KOs) has revealed the secrets of Usyk's weight in the fights, between the fights and how he manages to cut the weight to make a cruiserweight limit.

"Between the fights Usyk weighs in at 225-226 lbs. He had a very short break before the Bellew fight, so in that camp he entered weighing in at 217 lbs. In the camp we completely exclude salt, sugar and simple carbohydrates. One week before the fight he weighs in at 208 lbs. 24 hours before weigh in he stops using meal and water at all. Almost all the shreded weight before weigh in is a water from his body, so making weight doesn't weaken him.

What should be his ideal weight when he moves to the heavyweigh division? In my opinion, he doesn't need to gain more weight. He should weigh in at 207-209 lbs, 212 at most. Because if he gains more weight, it will somewhat nullify his strengths - speed and stamina. But it's up to his training team, which is lead by Anatoly Lomachenko.

Usyk vs Anthony Joshua? I think he shouldn't have a lot of problems with Joshua. AJ doesn't have the good stamina, he tires after 5-6 rounds. Usyk is faster and has better accuracy and it's not that easy to land a punch on him. He gets hit sometimes, but he has a very good chin.

Usyk vs Ortiz? My friend, who was trainining in the same gym with Bermane Stiverne, said that Stiverne told him that Ortiz was 27 at the Pan-American Games when Stiverne himself was 18. You can easily see looking at his face that he is in his late 40s. Ortiz can't hold the same tempo as Usyk.

Fury and Wilder? Wilder is the most dangerous opponent for Usyk in my opinion, because he hits extremely hard and from very unusual angles. Fury, despite being slick, isn't anywhere near as fast as Usyk and doesn't heave the same stamina.

As for Lomachenko, I don't think he will have a lot of problems with Mickey. He is quicker, has better timing. Vasyl vs Crawford? No, Crawford is too big. Loma will have tons of problems against Crawford" - said Oleksandr Foka.

I can’t disagree with much of what he says. I think Wilder will be the toughest fight for Usyk, I don’t think Usyk beats AJ however.

Whether all the fights turn out the way he said remains to be seen but he makes some good points.

Seems a little hard to believe tbh. I imagine he'd prefer to move to heavyweight.

Haye claimed he would cut 20-25 lbs every camp to fight at cruiserweight.....but when he fought Klitschko he was only 212 and looked better at that weight than he did at 220.

Uysk vrs. Wilder would be an interesting fight and they'd probably end up weighing in within 5 lbs of each other.

Remember this old man Ortiz is a win that Wilder fans seem to think was some amazing feat.

He went life and death with a near 50 year old with a heart condition.

Which makes it even more bizarre that Dillian Whyte ducked him and Eddie signed him to keep him clear of Joshua.

I don't doubt that Ortiz is that old, but this seems to be incorrect. When Stiverne was 18 years old there were no Pan-American Games in that year, plus he was a late starter in the sport, he probably started boxing in that year. There were Pan American Games in 1999 and 2003 where Stiverne and Ortiz could compete, but there is no evidence for any of them being there. We know about other Canadian and Cuban heavyweights that boxed there though. So I would take that with a grain of salt.

210-215 is a perfectly functional weight for a HW to be who relies on speed and movement. It's also a weight which enables you to knock anyone in the world out, as Haye, Huck, Briedis and Wilder have demonstrated over the years.

Call me old-fashioned but I'd love to see a return to the older school HW physiques making up the top ten. I'm so sick of the big lumbering behemoths masquerading as "Super Heavyweights" in the division today.

Lomachenko should forget Mickey , at 200 he can make HW to , he runs in the same circles and he can car pool to the gym with Usyk and hit potential opponents crossing the streets .

    AJ kos him.
Wilder probably stops him late. Though Usyks skills might see him last to lose a decision.
    Fury UDs him

Ortiz, Povetkin, Whyte, Parker.... Very interesting fights. Usyk is the probable, and rightful, favorite in these.

    Cant wait.

Wilder wouldn't lay a glove on Usyk. That'd actually be a terrible mismatch, which would only become apparent after the fight.

Usyk is a serious individual. He will do well if he chooses HW
