Fury, Joshua, Wilder, Whyte, Miller. There's some huge fights to be made in this division. Not to mention Usyk who's gonna move up. And the next level of Povetkin, Ortiz, Chisora, Parker, Pulev. What a time to be alive. As well as having all these big names active, they're also seemingly willing to face each other and more importantly they make for great fights I will just paid £20 to watch Whyte KO Chisora, I didn't watch any of the undercard, just this one fight. And I definitely feel I had value for money. A great fight between two top contenders and a great finish. Wladimir was a great champion, but I never felt the division was alive when was around. For some reason now the division is absolutely buzzing. Best division in the sport.
The division is terrible. 40 year old Povetkin clobbered AJ around for several rounds. 40 year old Ortiz nearly stopped Wilder Fury straight off the fat farm should have won Wilder's belt. Pulev, Charr, Chisora and other dinosaurs are still not only relevant but highly rated. Guys: the HW division may be "exciting" but it is in no way "good".
It only seems that way because No single fighter is miles above any other. The KLITS were miles above everyone else that it didnt seem competitive at all so it gave you the wrong impression.
Wlad leaning on people until they are tired is not miles above. Plus he got away with it because 98% of those bear hug fest where held in Germany where Klits had the judges and refs on lock. When he did fight outside of Germany they were penalized for clinching too much. Vitali was beaten silly by Lewis and retired to politics where he is getting beaten by Putin.
This is true. Both Klitschkos sice 2006 (when Wlad won the belt) till 2015 lost maybe a few rounds combined, were never dropped of troubled in the fight. They had total 29 fights in that timeframe, lost probably less than 10 rounds combined. That's a total domination.
This is a true contradiction. People said Wlads era wasn't competitive so how can it be great ? There weren't many 6'6 skilled guys . not saying they wouldn't win but the fights wouldn't be so easy today. the more competition you have the better the era. Who was the best HW of the 70's? You couldn't actually give an answer bc all were competitive. Ali stood out but arguably he lost to Frazier 2x and so on....... The only thing missing from the era of now is Klitschko ( i still say is coming back ) who would be the second best HW right now. That doesn't detract from the current guys, and when the second group gets here the division will be even better, Gorman, DDD, Usyk, a host of others will be blended in with this one. we still have Povetkin and Ortiz ,its not shrinking anytime soon. A one as a single fighter above the rest ? Joshua is that guy until; proven otherwise and is in the league of klitschko wheather you agree or not. lol..Fury is here too...this isn't no paper era you guys make it out to be. Both Vitali and Wlad would have better competition here ,and actually have better fights and more knockouts bc the fighters now would force K.O's on themselves and bring out the best versions of them.
Wlad and Vitali were much more talented than anyone today. Vitali outboxed Lennox Lewis, that not even Lennox’s own judges could put him ahead on the scorecards (a cut opened up by laces of the gloves did him in) Lol. These guys could run through everyone of your heros without much problem during their primes. Suck it.
I get where you are coming from, but name an era where there are so many up and coming and contenders to choose from. What you say about Fury vs Wilder just proves how exciting it is, Wilder has it in his arsenal to KO anyone inside 12 rounds, Whyte behind on scorecards and KO's Delboy in the 11th and Del had a pretty good chin
During every HW era since the early 90s to the present day you will hear moaners calling it the worst ever, so it’s refreshing that this one is different and more people are appreciating the quality and depth of the division.
I have to disagree, not that Wlad and Vit weren't miles above everyone else, but that that was the reason the division didn't seem competitive. To my mind the Klitschko era was so dull because top competitors hardly ever fought each other, so outside of the Klits we had no idea of how the division stacked up, and meaningful matches where the outcome wasn't preordained were extremely rare. In this era we still have two fighters who make up the top echelon, but outside of that there's a ton more buzz to the division. No one really expects someone like Whyte to beat Joshua or Fury, but fights against the likes of Miller, Wilder etc are all thrilling propositions. The division has a lot more openness and uncertainty, and there seems to be more of a spirit of fighters willing to test themselves than there was in the Klitschko's day. Maybe that's an erroneous assumption on my part, but that's how I personally feel at any rate.
Jesus lay off the flakka buddy. Wlad WAS champion the entire time Wilder had the WBC title and never offered to fight the man. He was on his bum quest through Germany until Fury spoiled it. Wlad is a coward cherry picker. Vitali has a resume of garbage. Of near 50 fights the guy has 3 recognizable names and 1 is of the man who KO'd his sissy brother.
