Lennox Lewis He(Joshua) doesn't want those guys. He's happy being protected in England

It could have been Ortiz instead of Povetkin as mandatory. And if it was I'm sure you'd be here telling us that Joshua should have fought Povetkin instead.

But the main point is that it's clear as day that Joshua is judged by much, much higher standards than his rivals.. laughably so. We're here debating whether AJ's mandatory should have been Luis Ortiz instead of Alexander Povetkin in his 22nd fight, and it seems that's the WORST thing we can hold against him..

I can only imagine the scenes if Joshua was to take 5 voluntary defences in a row with guys well outside the top 10..

No because Povetkin at the time wasn't really high up anywhere in the rankings.

I would have been very excited to see Ortiz vs Joshua and would have received tons of credit if he fought and beat Ortiz convincingly. Who could argue a case against Joshua being the best of the best if he had fought Wlad, stay busy fight, then Ortiz, another stay busy fight and then Wilder? Even if he had lost he'd have been given and earned real respect and credibility.

Of course he is judged at a high standard because he is one of the champions. And champions are meant to defend their belts against the best.

The 22nd fight excuse doesn't wash when we've seen other fighters defend and challenge the top guys in their respective divisions in less than 16 fights.

And I think the very least we should expect from a champion is that they are willing to travel.

Mandatory, unification, mandatory, unification ... he's doing alright. I don't think you'll have to wait too long for the Wilder fight if Joshua's history is anything to go by. Wilder has been a professional for 10 years now, had 40 fights and still not one unification - you must have been pretty angry by that for quite some time.

'Willing to travel' seems to be the latest stick to beat him, and the hypocrisy is almost as amazing as how much people are scraping the barrel to find something to bash him with. Joshua has made a fortune fighting in the UK, all his opponents have made a fortune. Mayweather never fought outside of the US, it felt like he never fought anywhere besides from the MGM. I find it hard to blame him myself, but if the 'very least' a champion should do is travel, then what does that make Floyd?

And without wanting to sound like a broken record, it's relatively early days for Joshua. He didn't start boxing until he was 18, and he's only 29 now. You'll see him in the US I'm sure about it, I'll be surprised if it's not in 2019. If you cut him just a fraction of the slack you must have cut Wilder, then I'm sure you won't be too disappointed with the fights he takes this next few years.

Lewis is absolutely right. Joshua's just a over protected, over pampered overrated, big stiff cumbersome bodybuilder . He won't be fighting anyone with a pulse anytime soon. If his football hooligan fans had any sense, they'd boycott his next fight against Whyte or Chisora. But you ain't gonna see that happen, because their just a bunch of primitive drunks. The establishment awarded this steroid freak a OBE. Just imagine the shame if he does get caught. I personally hope the bomb squad rips that medal off his neck and beat him to a pulp in front of Prince Charles. Lol.

Joyce is awful, he and Miller are nowhere near the levels of Fury, Wilder or AJ.

Now remind me how often Wilder has travelled out of choice?

Was you so critical of Wilder after 40 fights waiting for him to fight a live body?

First let me get this out of the way...I see a lot of folks referring to Sephiroth as Stephanie...I assume it's to troll him? If she's really a girl, my apologies then. Anyways...

He was on Wilders case two years ago. Then Wilder had 2 fights that completely turned Seph 180 degrees and he's a Deontay fan now. Which means he needs a new target to spew his vitriol on, and that just happens to be Joshua for the moment. If Joshua follows Seph's path to a tee and fights the fights that Seph selects for him, at the venue that Seph prefers (it just HAS TO BE abroad...anything else is simply not acceptable to Seph)...and finishes his opponents in the right Seph manner...then you'll see Seph changing his mind once more and become the ultimate Joshua fan. Which will result in him needing another target for his favorite derogatory way of posting...might be Baby Miller, might be Usyk, Canelo...who knows.

Seph seems to think that this seesawing from one extreme into the other, is clear evidence of him being a true boxing fan... Myself, I just find it reeks of opportunism

This. Lennox was a great fighter, but he did always come off as a hater. If Joshua can make a fortune without ever fighting outside of the U.K. than power to him. If Lennox had half of Joshua's charisma and marketing savvy he would've did the same thing and forced people to come to him, but he didn't and couldn't.

 There is no seesawing and I will not be a big fan of Joshua as I cannot stomach false personalities but I will indeed give him his due if he were to step up.

Btw I am not a she, it's some a pathetic attempt at trolling which was an idea stolen from myself because I use to refer to Joshua as Anthony Jenner.

Dumb stuff from Lennox. No one who saw that fight thought Wilder "could box".

Quite right, Wilder was taking on THIS monster in his 22nd fight:

    http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/70734

So what if he was actually a cruiser sized fighter coming off a loss 11 months prior and so what if he hadn't boxed for seven years prior to that. This guy was a stone killer! I mean, yeah, he'd go on to lose his next three fights as well, but Wilder was really stepping it up there! Joshua would never have fought the elemental force that was uhh, um, Jesse Oltmanns. Taking easy touches like Povetkin, pffft.
